SUE YEARNS TO CELEBRATE HER LEAP DAY BIRTHDAY IN A BIG WAY, AND FRANKIE DISCOVERS THAT TOUGH GUY MIKE HAS A PET CAT AT WORK, ON ABC'S "THE MIDDLE"

"Leap Year" - Because this year is a leap year and Sue's birthday falls on February 29, she is overly excited about celebrating her big day in a big way. But given her parents' track record with celebrations, Sue may need to lower her expectations. Meanwhile, Frankie discovers that tough husband Mike has been taking care of a stray cat at work for years, Brick falls for a pretty girl in his social skills class, and Axl becomes enthralled with vacuuming the house, on "The Middle," WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 29 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

"The Middle" stars Patricia Heaton as Frankie, Neil Flynn as Mike, Charlie McDermott as Axl, Eden Sher as Sue and Atticus Shaffer as Brick.

Guest starring are Krista Braun as Ms. Tompkins, Mason Cook as Corey, Andrew J. Fishman as Zack, Bryce Hurless as Henry, Aidan Potter as Scott, Jake Netter as Theo and Mackenzie Aladjem as Hayley.

"Leap Year" was written by David S. Rosenthal and directed by Alex Hardcastle.

"The Middle" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format with a 5.1 channel surround sound. A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to the airdate.

Middle-aged, middle class and living in the middle of the country in Orson, Indiana, Frankie Heck is a harried wife and mother of three who uses her wry wit and sense of humor to get her family through each day intact. Having been fired as the least successful sales woman at the town's only surviving car dealership, Frankie re-evaluated her career path and is now working as a dental assistant. Her unflappable husband, Mike, is manager at the local quarry and her sardonic partner in the daily grind that is raising their average - yes, most definitely average - family.
