"BRINGING UP BABY: ROYAL EDITION," A SPECIAL EDITION OF 20/20 WITH BARBARA WALTERS, AIRS MONDAY, MAY 27 ON ABC

Prince William and Kate will be parents in just weeks, and their royal baby will enter this world prepped for kingship. He or she will fulfill the royal family's basic mission, to preserve England's faith in the monarchy and ensure its survival... a lot of weight to place on a small infant's shoulders. But already there are visible departures from the Imperial family's past. How will the new royal couple manage to balance centuries of tradition with their notorious urge to be modern? "Bringing Up Baby: Royal Edition," a Special Edition of "20/20" with Barbara Walters, gives viewers a thorough and entertaining look at the role of the new royal heir, how he/she will be raised, and what we can expect to happen once the future monarch arrives. "Bringing Up Baby: Royal Edition" airs MONDAY, MAY 27 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

The hour-long special will also include a look at Barbara Walters' years of covering the British royals, from her coverage of royal weddings and births to the funeral of Princess Diana. It will also include excerpts from her landmark 1984 interview with a then newly-married Prince Charles.

Plus: It's been reported that William and Kate will continue to modernize the monarchy by employing only a part-time nanny. Well, if you want this choice position, you'll need more than just a cheery disposition! ABC News Correspondent Amy Robach enrolled in Norland Nanny School - the place where potential au pairs train for one of Britain's oldest professions -- to experience firsthand the regal domain of opulence and grandeur traditionally ruled over by a nanny. Plus, a complete account of the trappings and accoutrements afforded the new prince or princess.

And: Kate's middle-class parents, Michael and Carole, are the owners of Party Pieces, a party supply business that sells everything from balloons and bunting to cakes and confetti. But what influence will the "commoners," descended from coal-miners, have on their aristocratic grandchild, and who will serve as godparents? ABC News Correspondent Nick Watt reports.

John Green is executive producer.
