FORMER MTV V-JAY DOWNTOWN JULIE BROWN SWAPS LIVES WITH
FORMER WNBA ALL-STAR LISA LESLIE ON ABC'S "CELEBRITY WIFE SWAP"
"Downtown Julie Brown/Lisa Leslie" - Former MTV V-Jay Downtown Julie Brown swaps lives and homes for one week with basketball star Lisa Leslie on "Celebrity Wife Swap," SUNDAY, JULY 21 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
In "Celebrity Wife Swap," two mothers of celebrity families, each with opposing values, trade households, lifestyles and children (but not bedrooms) in a week-long challenge. In the first part of the exchange, each mom moves into the other's home and agrees to follow a manual of "household rules" written by the departing mother, including how to parent, manage their social life, do house work, unwind and more. Everything changes in the second half of the week, when "new mommy" takes charge, introduces her own set of rules and runs the "nest" her way. At the end of the week the two couples meet for the first time. In a raw, honest and highly-charged exchange of views, the couples will make frank assessments of each other and discuss their experiences, having had a very real taste of what life would be like in someone else's family.
Downtown Julie Brown is best known as one of MTV's first V-Jays with her catch phrase, "Wubba Wubba." Julie lives in Marina Del Ray, CA with her husband, Martin, and their 19-year-old daughter, Gianna, who resides with her boyfriend nearby. Julie and her husband have a laidback lifestyle in which they enjoy life without daily schedules. In the evenings, the couple can usually be found sipping champagne by the pool.
Four-time Olympic gold medalist and WNBA All Star Lisa Leslie lives in Calabasas, California with her husband, Michael, and their two young children, Lauren (5) and M.J. (3.) Lisa and her husband have a very active lifestyle, with Lisa keeping everyone on a tight schedule, including planning all of the children's activities. Lisa and Michael feel they are raising future pro-athletes, so the children eat a sugar-free diet, with Lisa preparing healthy, home-cooked meals that the family enjoys promptly at 6:00 p.m. each and every evening.
When Lisa walks into Julie's home, she immediately notices its eclectic dcor and the absence of toys, signaling that no children live here. Then she meets Martin and Gianna and gets to know the family. After dinner Lisa and Marin head to the roof, where they lounge with a glass of champagne, as Lisa struggles to adjust to a slower-paced life.
Meanwhile in Calabasas, Julie meets Michael and the kids. Michael informs her that she will be cooking dinner for them, as well as the extended family, who will be visiting that evening. Julie heads to the kitchen, but is soon overwhelmed by all the work that needs to be done in a short amount of time. As she struggles, Michael watches from the sidelines without pitching in, causing the evening's schedule of dinner and bedtime to go off much later than expected. The next morning Julie is up early, getting the children ready for the day while trying to adjust to the family's regimented lifestyle.
When it's time for rules change, Julie tries to slow things down to remind Lisa's family of the importance of enjoying the moment without schedules and time constraints, while Lisa tries to show Julie's family the value of planning activities and spending time together.
