"Pageant Confidential: The Road to Miss America" takes viewers behind-the-scenes of one of the most iconic competitions in the world for an intimate portrait of what it takes to become Miss America. With exclusive access to the Miss States winners, the hour follows the stories of several young women determined to don the coveted Miss America crown. This year "Miss America" features many contestants who are breaking down barriers.
For several months, ABC's cameras captured candid moments from their journeys as they are transformed from state winners to the polished Miss America contenders seen on stage. "Pageant Confidential" reports right up to the start of the eagerly-awaited competition, as Miss America heads back to its roots in Atlantic City. Anchored by "Good Morning America" Anchor, Miss America Co-Host and former-Miss America Judge Lara Spencer, "PAGEANT CONFIDENTIAL: THE ROAD TO MISS AMERICA" airs on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 (8:00- 9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. The special leads into the network's coverage of "Miss America 2013."
The special also reveals the frenetic life of a Miss America winner, spending time with current Miss America Mallory Hagan. Additionally, Miss America Organization competition veteran and ABC News Correspondent Amy Robach, who is Georgia's former Miss Gwinnett County 1995, knows from experience what pageant butterflies feel like. She is in Atlantic City to check in with the Miss States as they both wear and hide their anxieties as the big night nears.
