ACCLAIMED ITALIAN CRIME SERIES "GOMORRAH" DEBUTS ON SUNDANCE TV WITH BACK-TO-BACK EPISODES WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24 AT 10/9C

"Immediately addictive" - Jeff Jensen, Entertainment Weekly

"Rich, dark and altogether excellent."- Tim Goodman, The Hollywood Reporter

"Instantly gripping"- Matt Roush, TV Guide

On Wednesday, August 24 at 10/9C, SundanceTV will debut season one of the acclaimed Italian crime series "Gomorrah" with two back-to-back episodes. Italy's most popular television series of all time, "Gomorrah" is based on the best-selling book by journalist Roberto Saviano. The novel has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and inspired the film Gomorrah, which won the 2008 Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. SundanceTV acquired seasons one and two from The Weinstein Company.

Each week, SundanceTV will feature two back-to-back episodes of the twelve installment season. In Part 1, "The Clan Savastano," Ciro, Don Pietro's right hand man, and his mentor, Attilio, set fire to the home of an up and coming rival mob boss, Salvatore Conte, in efforts to defend the Savastano clan's turf. Conte manages to escape and, in revenge, launches a counter attack. Don Pietro takes this as a sign of all-out war, whatever the cost.

"Gomorrah" Part 1 (Episodes one and two) will be available on sundance.tv (with cable subscription) and Cable VOD starting Thursday, August 25.

Set in the suburbs of Naples, the series focuses on the inside story of the Camorra, the fierce Neapolitan crime organization, told through the eyes of Ciro Di Marzio (Marco D'Amore), the right hand of the clan's godfather, Pietro Savastano (Fortunato Cerlino). Produced by Sky Atlantic, Cattleya and Fandango in association with La7 and Beta Film, "Gomorrah" is written by Stefano Bises and directed by Stefano Sollima, Francesca Comencini and Claudio Cupellini. The series was developed for television by Giovanni Bianconi, Stefano Bises, Leonardo Fasoli, Ludovica Rampoldi and Roberto Saviano.
