'What Happened to 'Jackie'?' Airs on '20/20,' Friday, September 1, on ABC

It was the bombshell story that rocked America - a 9,000-word feature in Rolling Stone magazine detailing a harrowing gang rape of University of Virginia student "Jackie" at a frat party - igniting outrage about the handling of sexual assault on campuses nationwide. Anger reached a fever pitch, condemning one of the country's most elite universities and former UVA Associate Dean of Students Nicole Eramo. Soon after the allegations came out, details of the article were brought into question, and eventually Rolling Stone retracted their piece and apologized.

Former UVA Associate Dean of Students Eramo, who was at the center of the national scandal, sat down with "Good Morning America" News Anchor Amy Robach, telling her side of the story on the eve of her defamation civil trial. Since speaking with Robach, there was a surprising outcome in the high-profile case. "20/20" also features first-person accounts from key people connected to "Jackie"'s story, which allegedly involves a catfishing scam to win the affection of fellow classmate Ryan Duffin.
