'20/20' Airs on Friday, December 1 (10:01 - 11:00 p.m. EST), on ABC
Days after the announcement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement that has made worldwide headlines, "20/20" presents a primetime special on Meghan Markle's rise from American celebrity to member of the royal family, how the couple's romance blossomed, and what the future holds for Meghan and Harry, who may receive the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they marry. Markle, a California native best known as the character Rachel Zane on the TV show "Suits," will officially enter the royal family in a revolutionary way - as an American, a divorcée and an actress.
The hour will feature interviews with those who know Meghan, including a childhood friend, faculty from her Los Angeles high school, the chair of the Northwestern University Theatre department and a "General Hospital" casting director. The special will include details on the first time Harry and Meghan crossed paths and the resulting whirlwind courtship, the press frenzy and rumors that have surrounded their relationship, and the couple's life in London.
"20/20" will take an in-depth look at Meghan's life including her style, family, humanitarian work and career; expectations for the spring 2018 nuptials; and the responsibilities that come with marrying a royal, including moving from a Toronto condo to Kensington Palace's Nottingham Cottage, gaining a security detail and attending royal events. "20/20" airs on FRIDAY, DEC. 1 (10:00 - 11:00 p.m. EST), on ABC.
"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is senior executive producer.
