ON THE HEELS OF EMOTIONAL TESTIMONY, '20/20' FEATURES SURVIVORS WHO SPOKE OUT ABOUT ABUSE BY EX-USA GYMNASTICS DOCTOR LARRY NASSAR

The Hour Details Survivors' Harrowing Stories of Sexual Abuse, Why They Decided to Come Forward and Questions Who Failed to Protect Them

'20/20' Airs Friday, January 26 (10:00 - 11:00 p.m. EST) on ABC

The gymnastics sexual abuse scandal that rocked the world, and included accusations by Olympic gymnasts Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas, continues to dominate national headlines as an astounding 156 women have testified against ex-USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar since last week. On the heels of these emotional impact statements detailing over two decades of abuse they say was inflicted by him, Anchor Elizabeth Vargas interviews survivors who open up about their dreams of gymnastic glory, their harrowing stories of abuse by Nassar, why they decided to come forward, what the future holds for them and questions who failed to protect them from the abuse. "20/20" airs on Friday, Jan. 26 (10:00 - 11:00 p.m. EST) on ABC.

On Wednesday Nassar was sentenced to 40-175 years in prison after pleading guilty to seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with girls under the age of 15 in Ingham County, Michigan. The hour dives into the shamed former doctor's past and notable credentials, how the married father of three carried out and got away with the abuse for years, how the abuse went unaddressed for so long despite claims by some girls who say they tried to alert others to the abuse and the takedown of Nassar that started with an exclusive report in the Indianapolis Star. He faces a sentencing hearing on Jan. 31 in Eaton County, Michigan after pleading guilty to three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Nassar pleaded guilty in July to charges of federal child pornography and received 60 years in prison last month. Nassar has also been accused of sexual misconduct by over 125 girls and women in civil lawsuits.

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is a senior executive producer.
