Segments include:
· Psychedelics in Sports. In the last few years, controversial psychedelic drugs have undergone a revolution, as scientists all over the world have begun testing them in therapy with individuals suffering from mental health disorders like depression, anxiety and addiction. Not surprisingly, some retired athletes from sports like football, ice hockey and MMA are now turning to psychedelics as well, seeking relief from similar symptoms brought on by years of high-impact collisions. Correspondent David Scott reports. Producer: Jordan Kronick.
· Millionaire Explorer. An eccentric millionaire from Texas, Victor Vescovo has climbed the "Seven Summits" and has skied the North and South Poles. But recently, as he tells Bryant Gumbel, instead of trying to reach new heights, Vescovo reached for new lows: traveling to the very bottom of each ocean in a submersible vessel he helped design and operate. He's the only person to reach the deepest point of the Atlantic Ocean and famed Mariana Trench in the Pacific - while also continuing to discover and map the 90% of the ocean that had remained unexplored and unknown. Producer: Nisreen Habbal.
· Sidelined Super Fans. Although there has been a return to play in sports across the country, most games are being played in front of thousands of empty seats, leaving fans longing for the thrill of in-person experiences. But no one is feeling the pain more deeply than rabid super fans like "Bird Lady," who spends hours transforming into a sparkly red-feathered bird for Atlanta Falcons home games or "Clipper Darrell," the crazed Los Angeles Clippers fan whose fandom has become his livelihood. Correspondent Mary Carillo sits down with some of sports' most colorful fanatics to find out what makes them tick and how they're faring during the pandemic. Producer: Maggie Burbank.
The executive producer of REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL is Joe Perskie.
