A Special Edition Of Real Sports Features Three Stories Highlighting How Man's Best Friend Has Impacted The World Of Sports
HBO's REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL, the most honored sports journalism program on television with 37 Sports Emmy(R) Awards, returns with an all-new episode TUESDAY, AUGUST 22 (11:00-12:00 a.m. ET/PT) on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.
August segments include:
· RUNNING GUIDE DOGS: Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a program that running enthusiasts without sight never thought possible, teaches the very best guide dogs to run alongside sight-impaired athletes. David Scott meets with founder Thomas Panek to learn how the unique program offers not only freedom and a healthy lifestyle to sight-impaired athletes but is changing the future for the blind.
· AGILITY DOGS: Welcome to the world of elite dog sports, the culmination of years of high-flying training with an obsessive attention to detail and disciplined diets. Whether on land or in the water, today's canines are running faster and jumping farther than ever before. Mary Carillo meets some of the top dogs and trainers in the country as they prepare for some of the most exciting sports on four paws.
· IDITAROD: Real Sports details the epic story of the Iditarod-racing Mackey family, who were brought together and torn apart by their love of racing dogs. Their mushing tradition began half a century ago by the family patriarch and race co-founder, Dick. His son Lance became a four-time winner of the race despite battling addiction and cancer. And after Lance's death last September, brother Jason has picked up the reigns and hopes to keep the family legacy alive. Jon Frankel reports.
REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL is executive produced by Joe Perskie.
