All-New Episode Of REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL Debuts November 21
HBO's REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL, the most honored sports journalism program on television with 37 Sports Emmy(R) Awards, returns with an all-new episode TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.
November segments include:
· UKRAINIAN ATHLETES AT WAR: Russia's invasion of Ukraine has altered the country in innumerable ways, including the near-complete devastation of its national sporting culture. Since the war's onset, several hundred of the country's sports facilities have been bombed by Russian forces, while thousands of Ukrainian athletes have enlisted in the military, leaving behind the fields of play for the fields of battle. Isobel Yeung reports.
· JIM IRSAY: Jim Irsay doesn't just own the NFL's Indianapolis Colts franchise. He's spent a fortune on one of the most eclectic memorabilia collections in the world, with items ranging from the original manuscript of Jack Kerouac's "On The Road," to a multi-million dollar collection of guitars played by the likes of Prince, Eric Clapton and Kurt Cobain. But perhaps his most prized possessions are an array of printings of "Alcoholics Anonymous," a book that has become Irsay's personal bible as he's battled a life of addiction. Irsay sits down with Andrea Kremer for his first in-depth television interview about his lifetime of struggles.
· SURFER HEROES IN MAUI: The wildfires that ripped through Maui this August claimed nearly 100 lives and destroyed more than 1,000 homes, leaving many of its survivors with nothing. In the immediate aftermath of the disaster, residents reported that although government help was seemingly slow to arrive, there was one group that sprang into action immediately: Maui's elite big wave surfers. In the days after the deadly fire, this contingent of world-famous athletes, including Kai Lenny, Archie Kalepa and Matty Schweitzer, deployed a convoy of jet skis and boats to deliver critical supplies to survivors. As Maui reels in the aftermath of the deadliest wildfire in over a century, these athletes have stepped up as leaders to a community that must now navigate a complicated road to recovery. David Scott reports.
REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL is executive produced by Joe Perskie.
