This week, 48 HOURS takes viewers through the unsettling case of Morgan Metzer, who survived a violent home invasion unlike any other. On New Year's Day 2021 in her Canton, Ga., home, Metzer found herself face-to-face with a masked intruder who disguised his voice to sound like Batman. 48 HOURS and contributor Nikki Battiste report on the case in "The 'Batman' Intruder," to be broadcast on Saturday, Dec. 14 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+.
Metzer recalls the chilling moment she awoke to her attacker in her bedroom doorway, "I saw the shadow of a man's body standing there, you know, all in black and just lit up by the light in the background. He had a mask on." The intruder wasn't just masked, he went to great lengths to disguise himself, including how he sounded. Metzer explained that he seemed to be trying to make his voice low and gravelly, "It was the sound of Batman's voice."
Metzer's terrifying ordeal took a surprising turn when her ex-husband, Rod Metzer, came to her rescue after the intruder left. But as investigators unraveled the mystery, they uncovered shocking revelations that left everyone questioning: Was he the hero of the story - or something more sinister?
The episode takes viewers through the puzzling details of this case, from the masked intruder to the unexpected culprit behind the attack.
