A WEDDING WEEKEND TURNS INTO A REAL-LIFE WHODUNNIT WHEN THE VACATION RENTAL'S HOST VANISHES WITHOUT A TRACE
All-New '20/20' Episode 'The Vanishing of Nancy Woodrum' Airs Friday, March 13, on ABC and Streams Next Day on Disney+ and Hulu
What began as a joyful celebration in the rolling hills of Central California's wine country suddenly turned into a real-life whodunnit when 62-year-old businesswoman Nancy Woodrum seemingly vanished overnight from her ranch property while she was hosting a large wedding party and guests in 2018. On the day when the couple was to be married at a nearby winery, a neighbor found a shocking scene with indications of trouble inside the home: a bloody handprint on Nancy's pillow, drops of blood on the floor and other disturbing clues. Following the wedding, guests returned late in the evening to a chaotic scene. Woodrum, a beloved local entrepreneur, devoted Jehovah's Witness and passionate horsewoman, had been staying in a separate dwelling on the property and had seemingly disappeared without a trace. With more than 20 guests staying on the sprawling estate and a growing list of suspicious characters, investigators launched a seven-month search for answers, piecing together conflicting accounts and evidence in a case that unfolded like a real-life "Knives Out." Ultimately, detectives turned to an innovative high-tech investigative technology that helped unlock the truth of what happened to Nancy, uncovering the disturbing reality behind her disappearance. "GMA Weekend" co-anchor Whit Johnson reports on the investigation in the all-new "20/20" episode "The Vanishing of Nancy Woodrum," airing FRIDAY, MARCH 13 (9:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC and streaming the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
