LIVE FROM NEW YORK (A&E)
DEVELOPMENT HISTORY:
7/15/05
STATUS:
previously in development
DESCRIPTION:
(from A&E's press release) A backstage look at the creation of a beloved cultural icon, LIVE FROM NEW YORK follows the creation of Saturday Night Live from its doubtful beginnings to a surprise early success that would lay the groundwork for its ongoing endurance. The show soon launches its 31st Season, but in the beginning, its counterculture attitude confirmed to most executives inside of NBC that the lunatics had taken over the asylum. The network took huge risks, the writers and soon-to-be-stars continuously pushed the cultural restraints of television to the breaking point, and the behind- the-scenes clashes have become the stuff of legend. LIVE FROM NEW YORK tells the true story of how Chevy, John, Gilda, Dan, Jane, Garrett, Lorraine and Lorne became ready for prime time.
