CAPTIVE (Netflix, New!) - Simon Chinn (Man on Wire) and Doug Liman are set to team for a new eight episode series "exploring hostage situations and negotiations around the world, [providing] a look at a wide range of situations from the viewpoint of everyone involved: the victims and their families back home, the experienced negotiators, business leaders, government officials and the kidnappers themselves." Lightbox's Jonathan Chinn and Hypnotic's Dave Bartis and Gene Klein will also executive produce alongside showrunner Alex Marengo with Kathryn Taylor producing. (Deadline.com)

ONE DAY AT A TIME (Netflix/Sony; W: Gloria Calderon Kellett & Mike Royce; D: Pamela Fryman) - Todd Grinnell has been cast as quirky building superintendent Schneider on the streaming service's reimagining of the Norman Lear classic, centering on a Cuban-American family. Schneider, detailed here as "a charming and over-privileged handyman who lives in his dad's building rent-free in return for being the building manager," is the only character from the original series to be transplanted in the reboot.
