DEAD BOY DETECTIVES (HBO Max) - Netflix has acquired the DC Comics series from Warner Bros. Television. Originally set for HBO Max, said report indicates "the studio shopped the drama after sources say the series didn't fit with the new chapter of content that DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran are building for the comic book powerhouse." DEATH BY FAME/PLAYBOY MURDERS, THE (ID) - The cable channel has renewed both series for second seasons in advance of their finales on Monday, February 27. (Deadline.com)
GIRLSHOW (Hulu, New!) - Meredith Hagner is attached to star in a proposed dark comedy at the streamer from Sally Bradford McKenna. No plot specifics were given about the project, with Ro Donnelly, Dakota Johnson and Oly Obst also executive producing for Boat Rocker Media, TeaTime Pictures and 3 Arts Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
HURT UNIT, THE (ABC) - Ashley Romans is the latest to board the medical drama pilot as "Nora, a surgeon from working-class roots who got her education by joining the Navy, serving as a trauma surgeon in multiple war zones. She wants to join Dr. Danny Marsh's (Ben McKenzie) elite HURT Unit, and although she's nearly as brilliant a surgeon as he is, he won't have her on his team until she levels with him about her troubled past." NIGHT AGENT, THE (Netflix) - Kari Matchett will recur on the upcoming "political conspiracy thriller" as the President of the United States. (Deadline.com)
SINKING SPRING (Apple TV+) - Wagner Moura is set to star opposite Brian Tyree Henry the upcoming drama in a recasting of the Manny Cespedes role. Michael Mando was originally cast "but has been let go after an on-set physical altercation with another cast member," according to said report. (Deadline.com)
SOULMATES (AMC) - The cable channel has opted not to proceed with the second season of the anthology series. Said run was originally ordered back in August of 2020, two months prior to its launch. (THR.com)
SOUTH PARK (Comedy Central) - Warner Bros. Discovery has filed a lawsuit "that accuses Paramount Global of reneging on parts of the $500 million licensing deal set in 2019 for the streaming rights to episodes." Adding, "Paramount breached the contract by steering 'South Park' specials and other content to its own Paramount+ platform." (Variety.com)
WONDER MAN (Disney+) - Lauren Glazier has joined the cast of the Marvel Studios series in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com)
