BARBERSHOP (Amazon) - Roy Wood Jr., Punkie Johnson, Brett Gray, and E.J. Bonilla will join Jermaine Fowler's Travis "Trav" Porter on the reboot series. Wood Jr. will play Robert, "an ex con-turned-barber"; with Johnson as Stella, "a no-nonsense barber who is skeptical of Travis' return"; Gray as "the flamboyant and outspoken Kofi"; and Bonilla as Fernan, "a Bronx-born barber who becomes an ally to Travis." (Deadline.com, 11/25)
FOSTER DADE (Hulu) - Cameron Mann has scored a role on the YA pilot as Jack Albright, described as "Kennedy's golden boy - magnetic, athletic, born to lead. He moves through the world with effortless charm and unshakable confidence, his lacrosse stick a permanent appendage. On Foster's first day, Jack greets him with an easy grin and a welcoming hand - but beneath his charisma lies a volatility, a combustible mix of privilege and insecurity." (Variety.com, 11/24)
HUNT, THE (Apple TV) - Producer Gaumont has provided more details about the delay of the show's premiere from December 3: "The broadcast of our series The Hunt has been temporarily postponed," the company said in a statement. "We are currently conducting a thorough review to address any questions related to our production. We take intellectual property matters very seriously." Said report notes the series has "perceived plot similarities to Shoot, a 1973 novel by American author Douglas Fairbairn." (Deadline.com, 11/25)
NCIS: ORIGINS (CBS) - Shea Buckner has been cast as a younger version of Dwayne Pride on the series, a role originated by Scott Bakula for seven seasons on "NCIS: New Orleans": "A former Sheriff's Deputy, NIS Special Agent Dwayne Pride, is a newly minted Probationary Special Agent from the NIS Panama office in the prequel series. He has a history with Gibbs (Austin Stowell), and the two must resolve their past tension as they go undercover on a case." (Deadline.com, 11/25)
POSTCARDS FROM ITALY (Amazon) - The Nicole Wallace-led drama series has added Sebastiano Pigazzi, Filippo De Carli, Maria Vera Ratti, Niccolò Senni, Vincent Riotta, Paola Minaccioni, and Martina Gatti in yet-to-be-revealed roles. (Deadline.com, 11/26)
ROOKIE, THE: NORTH (ABC) - Jay Ellis has closed a deal to topline the long-in-the-works spin-off series pilot from Alexi Hawley: "Alex Holland (Ellis) believed his mid-life wasn't worthy of a crisis. But after a violent home invasion ignites a dormant purpose, Alex battles a lifetime of failed commitments by joining the Pierce County Police Department as its oldest rookie. Policing from the urban coast to the rural forest where backup isn't just 5-minutes away, Alex must prove to his skeptical training officer, his fellow rookies, and himself, that he's finally found something worthy of the fight." Nathan Fillion, Mark Gordon, Bill Norcross, and Michelle Chapman will also executive produce for Perfectman Pictures, 20th Television, and Lionsgate Television with Ellis also receiving a producer credit. (Deadline.com, 11/24)
STAR WARS: AHSOKA (Disney+) - Claudia Black will not return as Nightsister Klothow for the show's second season. "Well, I'm going to be transparent," she told the publication. "They picked up Season 2, picked me up with it, and then Disney, which is structuring things differently these days, could not pay me what I needed to be paid as a single mother to keep all my responsibilities going at home in Los Angeles, because they were filming in London. It was not something that they could make happen, and therefore, I had to bow out for Season 2." (BleedingCool.com, 11/28)
UNTITLED THREE AMIGOS PROJECT (Amazon, New!) - The streamer has signed onto an untitled medical drama from executive producers Diego and Natalia Boneta of Three Amigos. Caro Rivera and José Miguel Núñez created the project, "seen as Grey's Anatomy meets ER set in Mexico City," with Fernando Sariñana and Fernando Sariñana Jr. also executive producing.
