SOAPnet Acquires "Skin" and "The Monroes" for Spring Premiere

January 12, 2005

BURBANK, CA SOAPnet has acquired the exclusive broadcast rights to all eight episodes of "Skin" including four never-before-seen episodes and eight episodes of "The Monroes" from Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution, announced Deborah Blackwell, General Manager, SOAPnet. The network has also renewed "Knots Landing" from WBDCD.

"Short-lived series have a home on SOAPnet. The acquisitions of Skin and The Monroes continue to establish our brand as a home for all soaps and provides our viewers with a 24-hour soapy environment," said Blackwell. "Our viewers will be delighted to watch never-before-seen episodes of Skin."

Both new series will air weekends on SOAPnet beginning this spring. "Skin" is an updated take on the classic tale of doomed, star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet set in modern-day Los Angeles. She is Jewel, the white, teenaged daughter of the head of a pornography empire, and her beloved, Adam, is a 17-year-old Latino whose mother is a judge and father is the district attorney trying to take the porn king down. "Skin" was created by Jerry Bruckheimer (CSI) and stars Ron Silver (TVs "The West Wing," "Ali") and newcomers Olivia Wilde as Jewel and D.J. Cotrona as Adam.

"The Monroes" is "Dynasty"-meets-the-Kennedys when primetime soap star William Devane ("Knots Landing") and Golden Globe-nominee Susan Sullivan ("Dharma & Greg") star as the heads of a rich, influential Washington, D.C. political clan.

SOAPnet, the new way to watch soaps, offers same-day episodes of popular daytime dramas including "All My Children," "Days of our Lives," "One Life To Live" and "General Hospital" at night for convenient viewing. In addition, the network provides inside access to stars and storylines with original programs, including the Emmy-nominated one-hour talk show, "Soap Talk," the biography show "Soapography," "1 Day With" and the reality series "I Wanna Be A Soap Star." Wrapped in a 24-hour environment, SOAPnet also offers primetime classics including "Melrose Place," "Beverly Hills 90210," "Dynasty," "Dallas" and "Knots Landing," as well as former daytime series "Port Charles," "Ryan's Hope," and "Another World."

Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution is one of the leading suppliers of programming to the pay television and basic cable marketplaces. WBDCD is responsible for sales, marketing and distribution of already-produced product from the Studio's vast library, including feature films, television series, mini-series, television movies and specials to basic cable and pay television. WBDCD is also a major licensor of feature films to the broadcast networks.
