NBC GENERATES YEAR-TO-YEAR GAINS ON FIVE OF SEVEN NIGHTS OF THE WEEK IN 18-49

BURBANK, Calif. November 30, 2006 NBC has concluded the November 2006 sweep up 15 percent versus last November in adults 18-49, boosting the network to a #2 finish for the month in primetime's key demographic. NBC was the only network to report year-to-year gains in various key ratings categories, including adults 18-49, versus November 2005, according to "most current" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

With the conclusion of the 28-night November 2006 sweep, NBC finished up 15 percent in adults 18-49 (with a 3.8 rating vs. a 3.3), up 8 percent in adults 25-54 (4.3 vs. 4.0), up 19 percent in 18-34 (3.1 vs. 2.6) and up 10 percent in total viewers (10.50 million vs. 9.55 million). NBC is the only network to exhibit year-to-year growth for November 2006 versus November 2005 in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and in total viewers.

For the full 28-night sweep period (November 2-November 29, 2006), "most current" November 2006 sweep averages in adults 18-49 were: ABC (a 4.1 rating, 11 share), NBC and CBS (3.8/10), Fox (3.0/8) and CW (1.5/4). In total viewers, the November sweep "most current" averages were CBS (13.0 million), ABC (11.6 million), NBC (10.5 million), Fox (7.4 million) and CW (3.6 million). "Most current" sweep averages include "live plus seven day" results for November 2-November 12 and "live plus same day" results for November 13-29.

NBC's 15 percent gain in adults 18-49 is the network's biggest year-to-year increase in a major sweep month, excluding Olympics, since May 1995. It's the network's biggest gain for a November sweep in People Meter history (dating back to 1987). It is also the biggest year-to-year gain for any network in a November sweep since CBS in 2001. In total viewers, NBC's 10 percent gain is the network's biggest year-to-year increase in a November sweep in People Meter history.

NBC's 3.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 10.5 million total viewers are the network's highest averages for a non-Olympic sweep since November 2004.

NBC finished 0.3 of a rating point out of first place in adults 18-49 in the sweep, in marked contrast to a 1.1 rating point deficit in the demo in November 2005.

NBC delivered year-to-year gains on five of seven nights of the week in 18-49 (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday), currently more than the other three major networks combined.

In the valuable sales demographic of adults 18-34, NBC has vaulted from fourth place last November to second place this November, with an overall increase of 19 percent in that demo.

NBC also delivered year-to-year gains in non-sports averages for the November sweep, up 3 percent in 18-49 rating (3.4 vs. 3.3) and 8 percent in adults 18-34 rating (2.8 vs. 2.6).

NBC's median age for the November 2006 sweep is 47.4 years, NBC's "youngest" finish for any sweep period since November 2004 (46.9).

In the important 10:30-11 p.m. ET lead-in to local news, November 2006 sweep averages in adults 25-54 were CBS (5.2), NBC (4.5) and ABC (3.4). Among adults 18-49, those sweep averages are CBS (4.1), NBC (3.9) and ABC (2.9). (Note: based on Monday-Friday, 10:30-11 p.m. ET, for the period November 2-November 29, 2006)

"Heroes" was the #1 new series of the November 2006 sweep in all key measures including adults 18-49 and total viewers. Among all 109 primetime programs during the sweep, "Heroes" ranked #6 (tied) in adults 18-49, #8 in adults 25-54, #3 in adults 18-34 and #15 in total viewers. Among men 18-49, "Heroes" was the #1-ranked scripted program during the November sweep, placing second overall to only "NBC Sunday Night Football," which was #1. "Heroes" is NBC's highest-rated new drama in a November sweep in 12 years (since "ER" in 1994.)

Paced by "Heroes, " NBC led Monday nights in 18-49 with a 38 percent improvement over November 2005, earning the network's first Monday win in a November sweep since 1993.

NBC increased its Thursday sweep average in 18-49 by 2 percent (4.5 vs. 4.4), despite a significant increase in competition with ABC's addition of "Grey's Anatomy" to the night.

On Friday nights, NBC is up 22 percent versus November 2005 in 18-49 (2.8 vs. 2.3).

NBC's Sunday November average of a 6.0 in adults 18-49 is the highest rating for any network on any night during the sweep. NBC doubled its 3.0 Sunday average for November 2005 to earn the network's highest Sunday rating for a November sweep in 10 years.
