CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The season finale of HBO's "Six Feet Under" on Sunday drew 5.8 million viewers, up 13% over last year's finale (5.1 million on 6/2/02). That translates into a stellar 11.0 rating and 16 share in HBO homes helping bring its average for the season to a 9.5/13 (4.7 million viewers). Nevertheless despite the uptick for the finale, the critically acclaimed drama was down 13% overall from last season.
Meanwhile, there was also good news for HBO's "The Wire" as its second season bow drew 4.4 million viewers (8.7/13 in HBO homes), up 19% from last year's premiere (3.7 million, 7.0/10 in HBO homes on 6/2/02). The numbers also marked "The Wire's" second-highest viewership to date.
