CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- UPN has pulled its freshman comedy "The Mullets" after six weeks on the air. A repeat of "Girlfriends" will fill in for the show tonight at 9:30/8:30c.
Network executives stress however that the show isn't canceled as production will continue on its initial 13-episode order. Industry insiders on the other hand don't expect the series to return to UPN's schedule any time soon. "The Mullets'" most recent episode snagged just 1.9 million viewers making it the least watch program on the six major networks last week (tied with the WB's "Run of the House").
UPN will use repeats of its Monday comedies (which also include "The Parkers," "Eve" and "Half & Half") in the Tuesday, 9:30/8:30c half-hour for the time being.
Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein are the executive producers of "The Mullets," which comes from Warner Bros. Television.
