ABC Gives Full Seasons to Six
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC handed out full season renewals of 22 episodes to all but one of its new series today. "Hope & Faith," "I'm With Her," "It's All Relative," "Married to the Kellys," "10-8" and "Threat Matrix" all received back nine orders, leaving "Karen Sisco" as the lone freshman holdout. The Alphabet network however has ordered four additional scripts of the series.

"We're immensely proud to have successfully launched 10 new comedies in just two-and-a-half seasons," ABC Entertainment President Susan Lyne said in the press release touting the news. "ABC's record in the comedy arena remains unparalleled." As for its dramas, Lyne added, "'10-8' and 'Threat Matrix' are performing for us in very competitive time periods. The shows are growing creatively, and we have confidence that they will build audience as they are sampled by more viewers."

ABC also provided a breakdown of each freshman series' accomplishments:

"10-8" ranks as the second-most-watched show in its time period, outdrawing NBC's sophomore drama, "American Dreams." Increasing momentum for ABC in the hour, the drama builds on its lead-in and grows by 8% in Total Viewers and by 15% among Adults 18-49 throughout its broadcast on average.

"Hope & Faith" ranks as the No. 1 television series on Friday night in Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. In fact it has been the top entertainment show on the night among young adults for five consecutive weeks. In its series premiere (9/26/03), "Hope & Faith" qualified as the highest-rated series debut for ABC on Friday night in seven years - since the series debut of "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" on 9/27/96. In fact the sitcom opened with the highest Adult 18-49 rating for a series debut on any network on Friday night in three years - since the opening episode of CBS' "CSI" on 10/6/00. Versus ABC's delivery in the time period at the same point last season, "Hope & Faith" has boosted the Net's totals by 3.8 million viewers and by 48% among Adults 18-49.

"I'm with Her" leads Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. by a substantial 42% among Adults 18-49. The freshman comedy also ranks No. 1 in its time slot among Adults 18-34, Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11. On average "I'm with Her" is retaining a solid 82% of its sizeable young adult lead-in from "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter."

"It's All Relative" ranks No. 1 in its Wednesday, 8:30 p.m. time period, leading its half-hour by 14% in Total Viewers and by an even stronger 35% among Adults 18-49.

"Married to the Kellys" ranks No. 1 in its time period among Adults 18-34, Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11. "Married to the Kellys" is essentially tied for first place in its half-hour among Adults 18-49 with CBS' "Joan of Arcadia." On average, "Married to the Kellys" retains 100% of its Adult 18-49 lead-in and builds on its lead among Women 18-34, Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11.

Despite facing stiff competition in the Thursday, 8:00 - 9:00 p.m. time period, "Threat Matrix" has been able to build its audience from the first half-hour to the second half-hour by 3% in Total Viewers and by 12% among Adults 18-49 on average. "Threat Matrix" has also improved the hour for ABC this season by 6% among its core Men 18-49 audience.
