By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The WB is promising a November sweeps full of "living art exhibitions, deadly accidents, new loves, old flames, ballets, battles, fights, flights, ghosts, psychics, superstitions and more than one life-and-death emergency surgery," according to a trio of press releases outlining the network's plans. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect:

Please note the following includes major spoilers for upcoming episodes of the WB's series.

On the critically acclaimed drama EVERWOOD, Dr. Brown's (Treat Williams) surgical skills are tested once again when a coal mining accident leaves three miners (guest stars James Earl Jones, Beau Bridges and Kirsten Nelson) trapped underground with life-threatening injuries on November 3. Amy's (Emily VanCamp) depression takes a dangerous turn when she tries to write her own prescription for anti-depressants, and Linda (Marcia Cross) confesses that she is H.I.V. positive to Edna (Debra Mooney) on November 10. On November 17, the growing attraction between Linda and Dr. Brown becomes more complicated, Ephram (Gregory Smith) pursues Madison (Sarah Lancaster) and Amy is instantly attracted to Tommy (guest star Paul Wasilewski, "Smallville"), a new boy from the wrong side of the tracks. On November 24, tensions over Madison's place in the family lead to a miserable Thanksgiving dinner for the Browns. The Abbotts' Thanksgiving is even worse when, during a visit from Rose's (Merrilyn Gann) mother (Betty White, "The Golden Girls"), an ugly scene erupts between Dr. Abbott (Tom Amandes) and Amy over her relationship with Tommy, causing a distraught Amy to run away from home.

7TH HEAVEN continues its tradition of confronting social issues when Eric (Stephen Collins) welcomes a Muslim family to the neighborhood on November 3. On the November 10 episode, Peter (Scotty Levenworth) volunteers at a rehab center, where he has a positive effect on the life of a recovering alcoholic (guest star Joe Penny, "Jake and The Fatman"). Meredith Baxter ("Family Ties") guest-stars on November 17, in an episode that finds Eric searching for the truth when a school principal is accused of kidnapping and sexual abuse. Finally, on November 24, former cast member Barry Watson returns as eldest son Matt Camden, along with guest stars Deborah Mazar ("The Tuxedo") and Dennis Boutsikaris ("Taken") in an unusual episode set in the hospital where Matt and his wife Sarah (guest star Sara Danielle Madison) are doing their ER rotation. Matt's aptitude for the work is obvious, but a tragic event leaves him wondering if he should continue his medical career.

The new Tuesday team of GILMORE GIRLS and ONE TREE HILL highlights the highs and lows of small town life. The November 4 episode of GILMORE GIRLS finds Lorelai and Rory (Alexis Bledel) starring in the town's "Festival of Living Art" while Lane (Keiko Agena) auditions a new guitarist for her band (guest star Sebastian Bach of the 1980s band Skid Row). On November 11, Rory writes a scathing review of the Yale ballet company for the college newspaper and is stalked by a crazed ballerina, while Richard's (Edward Herrmann) business partner Jason (Chris Eigeman, "Metropolitan") continues his pursuit of Lorelai. At a tailgate party at the Harvard/Yale football game on November 18, Lorelai's innocent conversation with Richard's ex-fianc results in an angry outburst from Emily (Kelly Bishop), and leads indirectly to Lorelai finally accepting Jason's invitation to dinner. Screen star Michael York ("Cabaret") guest-stars as an older professor who begins a relationship with Rory's roommate Paris (Liza Weil).

On ONE TREE HILL, there's a definite shortage of brotherly love on November 4 as the rivalry between half-brothers Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan (James Lafferty) heats up, Keith (Craig Sheffer) and Dan (Paul Johannson) face off once again and Lucas is surprised when Peyton (Hilarie Burton) kisses him.. On November 18, Peyton is shocked by Brooke's (Sophia Bush) betrayal.

The new Wednesday night powerhouse of two critically acclaimed dramas, SMALLVILLE and ANGEL, continues to deliver a double shot of action in November. On the November 5 episode of SMALLVILLE, Clark (Tom Welling) learns that his biological father, Jor-El, was in Smallville 40 years earlier and may be responsible for the murder of Lana's (Kristin Kreuk) great aunt. November 12 features a performance by singer Josh Kelley. On November 5, ANGEL (David Boreanaz) and his loyal pals battle an ancient Aztec warrior, and on November 12, cyborg-assassins attack the offices of Wolfram & Hart, as Wesley (Alexis Denisof) is reunited with his estranged father (guest star Roy Dotrice, "Beauty and The Beast"). Chaos ensues on November 19, when Drusilla (guest star Juliet Landau) appears in a series of flashbacks with her old flame Spike (James Marsters) while he and Angel battle to see which vampire-with-a-soul will be the one to drink from the Cup of Perpetual Torment, a vessel that holds a priceless reward.

The Thursday comedies are weird and wonderful on October 30, when STEVE HARVEY'S BIG TIME features one man who can lift furniture with his teeth, and another who can suck milk up his nose and shoot it out his eye socket. The hit comedy REBA kicks off the Friday night line-up with a ghostly encounter on Halloween night, October 31, when Reba (Reba McEntire) plays a little joke on Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman) that comes back to "haunt" her. On November 14, Reba's feelings are hurt when Cheyenne (JoAnna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey) ask Barbra Jean to babysit their daughter, especially when she finds out that Barbra Jean once "misplaced" her own baby at the mall. On LIKE FAMILY, Keith (J Mack Slaughter) gets a personal lesson in discrimination on October 31 when a girl refuses to go out with him because he is white.

Continuing the Friday laughs, GROUNDED FOR LIFE heats up on November 7 when Brad (Bret Harrison) accidentally sees Claudia (Megyn Price) naked. On November 21, the bar is robbed and Sean's suspicion that Eddie (Kevin Fitzgerald Corrigan) is the culprit leads to a huge blow up.

Finally, ALL ABOUT THE ANDERSONS finds Anthony (Anthony Anderson) and Joe (John Amos) feuding over who should coach Tuga's (Damani Roberts) tee-ball team on November 7. On November 21, Martin Spanjers ("8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter") guest-stars as a young medical genius with a crush on Lydia (Aimee Garcia).

The action never lets up on Sunday night's new lineup of CHARMED and TARZAN. On November 2, Balthazar Getty ("Deuces Wild") continues in the role of Richard, a new man in Paige's (Rose McGowan) life. November 9 finds The Charmed Ones entrusted with Excalibur, the legendary Sword in the Stone that once belonged to King Arthur. On November 23, some of Chris' (Drew Fuller) secrets are revealed at last, and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) and Paige decide to move out of the manor, thereby relinquishing the Power of Three.
