CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- The WB has ramped up its commitment to its freshman comedy "Steve Harvey's Big Time," ordering six additional episodes of the variety series on Monday. The pickup brings its season total to 22 episodes.
The Frog had previously opted to produce just 16 episodes of the series (read the story), however the show's recent change in format reportedly impressed network executives enough to merit a full season order. Earlier installments consisted of "clips" of the various performers edited together from several filming sessions. Newer episodes however will feature a self-contained 30-minute session.
"Steve Harvey's Big Time" has performed well for the network, averaging about 3.1 million viewers this season, an increase of 24% from the WB's Thursday, 8:00/7:00c time slot average from last season.
