UPN's 'Player' Moves on to Wednesdays

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- UPN has made a quick adjustment to its summer schedule, announcing this week it plans to move Tuesday entry "The Player" to Wednesday nights at 9:00/8:00c following "Amish in the City."

Encores of "The Player" however will continue to run in its old Tuesday, 9:00/8:00c slot.

UPN MOVES ORIGINAL EPISODES OF "THE PLAYER" TO A NEW TIME PERIOD, WEDNESDAYS AT 9:00PM

Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 11, original episodes of THE PLAYER will move to a new time period, Wednesday (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), immediately following original broadcasts of AMISH IN THE CITY. Each episode of THE PLAYER will be rebroadcast the following Tuesday (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 10 with an encore of THE PLAYER premiere.

THE PLAYER follows a cultural cross-section of guys who find themselves living together in a palatial mansion in South Florida with Dawn and her two beautiful girlfriends. Throughout the hot spots of South Beach and Miami, these self-proclaimed "masters of the opposite sex" will attempt to win over Dawn, with the approval of her girlfriends, as they are thrust into a variety of scenarios with the possibility of sudden death eliminations. By using all of their best dating tactics and interpersonal skills, they must prove themselves worthy of being selected as Dawn's ultimate player and hopefully not hear her dismiss them with the fateful phrase, "Don't hate the player, hate the game."

THE PLAYER is produced by Ureal Productions, Inc. The executive producers are Don Weiner ("It's Showtime at the Apollo") and Happy Walters. Teri Kennedy ("Survivor") is co-executive producer.

TO EARN A DATE WITH DAWN, PLAYERS MUST STRUT THEIR STUFF ON THE COURT AGAINST THE WOMEN OF THE WNBA, BUT THEIR CONFIDENCE IS SHAKEN WHEN DAWN SUDDENLY SENDS A PLAYER HOME WITHOUT WARNING, ON "THE PLAYER," AT ITS NEW NIGHT AND TIME WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11 AT 9:00 PM

"I've Been Known to Break Up Relationships" � Their latest challenge finds the guys having to prove themselves on the court as they must play a game against the WNBA's Detroit Shock, the three who prevail are rewarded with a special dinner and hot tub time with Dawn, but when she decides she isn't feeling a connection, without warning Dawn kicks one of her suitors to the curb, literally, on THE PLAYER, at its new night and time, Wednesday, August 11 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on UPN.

Meanwhile, tensions arise when one of the players makes a pass at Dawn's girlfriend, putting his stay in jeopardy. Later, the remaining 11 await elimination.
