MTV Proves That Opposites Attract in New Reality Series 'Meet The Barkers'

New Series Features Travis Barker from Blink 182, His New Wife Shanna Moakler and Their Family

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Jan. 14 -- MTV: Music Television greenlights the new reality series, "Meet the Barkers" featuring Travis Barker of Blink 182, his new wife Shanna Moakler, the former Miss USA, and their family. In this new series, MTV cameras follow Travis and Shanna who are living the rock n' roll/Hollywood fantasy life together while simultaneously adjusting to parenthood -- and all that comes with it. The 10-episode series is scheduled to premiere in April '05.

"Our audience is always looking for MTV to provide access and a deeper connection to their favorite artists, and 'Meet the Barkers' will provide an inside peek into one of our viewer's favorite band members' crazy rock n' roll life, along with his tender home life," said Lois Curren, Executive Vice President, MTV Series Entertainment. "With a new mansion, two children, and a hilarious set of friends and extended family, The Barkers give a new meaning to the term 'nuclear' family."

"Having the cameras in our home has been a wild experience! We really wanted this to be a true documentation of our lives. We wanted to show that you can be young and successful and still balance a home and family...we wanted to break your typical stereotypes," says Moakler.

"Meet the Barkers" will capture Travis and Shanna's marriage, from their star studded wedding on the eve of Halloween in 2004 to the trials and tribulations of moving into a new home together and raising two children. Together, they share the parenting of Atiana, Shanna's five year old daughter, and Landon, Travis and Shanna's one year old son. Their lives are anything but mundane as Travis and Shanna go from Playboy parties and hangovers to Thanksgiving dinner and watching their son's first steps.

Travis Barker has been the drummer for the multi-platinum selling band, Blink-182, since 1998. In their six years together, Blink-182 has released four highly successful albums, the most recent of which has earned the band its most critical acclaim to date. In addition, Travis has collaborated with artists as numerous and varied as Black Eyed Peas, Bubba Sparx, P. Diddy, X- Zibit, Sleepy Brown, Snoop Dogg and Pink. Travis also owns his own record label, La Salle Records and created the fast-growing clothing label, Famous Stars and Straps.

Shanna Moakler, a former Miss USA turned TV actress, starred as 'Monica Harper' for two seasons in the USA Networks hit television show, Pacific Blue, co-starring with Mario Lopez. Shanna also designs the women's line of Famous Stars and Straps, Travis' clothing company. Famous Stars and Straps has a growing celebrity following including Snoop Dogg and Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas. Shanna recently completed a guest starring appearance in the ABC show Jake in Progress starring John Stamos, which will air mid-season 2005.

Executive Producers of "Meet the Barkers" are Lois Curren, Rod Aissa and Jesse Ignjatovic.
