FOX Salutes 'American Dad' by Moving Up Its Timeslot Beginning Sunday, May 1, on Fox

FOX SALUTES "AMERICAN DAD" BY MOVING UP ITS TIMESLOT BEGINNING SUNDAY, MAY 1, ON FOX

In the wake of strong ratings for its post-Super Bowl preview episode, FOX will premiere the new animated series AMERICAN DAD in its new time period (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on Sunday, May 1, after THE SIMPSONS' 350th episode and before the fourth-season premiere of FAMILY GUY on FOX.

Sunday's post-Super Bowl AMERICAN DAD preview episode garnered a 7.5 rating in Adults 18-49 and a total of 15.1 million viewers. AMERICAN DAD, combined with THE SIMPSONS, out-delivered the Super Bowl's most recent scripted post-show programming (ABC's "Alias" on 1/26/03) by +16% among Adults 18-49 (9.5 vs. 8.2), +56% among Adults 18-34 (11.2 vs. 7.2) and +10% in Total Viewers (19.2 vs. 17.4 mil).

FOX also will air original episodes of THE SIMPSONS at 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT on three consecutive Sundays, May 1, 8 and 15.

AMERICAN DAD revolves around STAN SMITH (Seth MacFarlane) a CIA agent based in Langley Falls, VA, who is an undisputed weapons expert and proud family man. Stan's wife is the sweet, Edith Bunker-esque FRANCINE (Wendy Schaal), who has carefully hidden her party-girl personality for the sake of the conservative man she loves. Stan is constantly butting heads with his ultra-liberal 18-year-old daughter, HAYLEY (Rachael MacFarlane), who is forced to go through an airport-style security check every time she comes home from a day of Women's Studies classes at the local community college. Hayley's 13-year-old brother is the hapless, geeky STEVE (Scott Grimes), a kid who seems to be on the verge of puberty, but can't quite make it past the squeaky awkwardness. The Smith household is rounded out by two rather unconventional members. There's ROGER (Seth MacFarlane), the sarcastic space alien Stan rescued from Area 51 who lives in the Smiths' attic; and KLAUS (Dee Bradley Baker), a lascivious goldfish with the brain of a German guy � the result of a CIA experiment gone seriously wrong.

This eccentric family full of radically different personalities is just trying to find a way to love and trust each other during these increasingly stressful times. And with a guy like Stan doing his best to make America safer, it's bound to be a hilarious ride.

AMERICAN DAD is a 20th Century Fox Television production. Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman serve as co-creators and executive producers.
