[via press release from NBC]

NBC THROWS AN 'OFFICE' PARTY AS IT REPRISES FOUR HILARIOUS EPISODES FROM THE FIRST SEASON OF THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED NEW SERIES ON AUGUST 17

HOSTED BY STEVE CARELL, STAR OF THE SERIES AND THE NEW FILM, 'THE 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN,' OPENING AUGUST 19

CARELL WILL INTRODUCE A 90-SECOND SNEAK PEEK AT 'THE 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN' DURING 'THE OFFICE' MARATHON

BURBANK, Calif. - August 4, 2005 - NBC will air a mini-marathon of four previously telecast episodes of the critically-acclaimed mockumentary, "The Office," on August 17 (8-10 p.m. ET), hosted by Steve Carell, whose Universal Pictures film, "The 40 Year-Old Virgin" opens in theaters on August 19.

"The Office" party will be hosted by Carell who will appear in interstitials to tease his upcoming feature-film comedy, "The 40 Year-Old Virgin." Carell will also introduce an exclusive sneak peek of the film which opens August 19.

"The Office" -- from Reveille and NBC Universal Television Studio begins its second season with all new episodes in its regular timeslot on Tuesday, September 20 (9:30-10 p.m. ET). The unique comedy series offers a smart, tongue-in-cheek documentary-style look at the humorous, and sometimes poignant, banality of the 9-to-5 white-collar work world.

The schedule for the August 17 marathon follows:

8:00 8:30 p.m. "Pilot"
8:30 - 9:00 p.m. "Diversity Day"
9:00 9:30 p.m. "Health Care"
9:30 10:00 p.m. "Hot Girl"

"The Office" takes a painfully funny look at the interactions of the cubicle jockeys at Dunder Mifflin paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Steve Carell (whom E! Online said "might be the funniest man alive") stars as unctuous regional manager Michael Scott who hosts the documentary crew on a tour of the workplace. Jenna Fischer ("Mismatch"), John Krasinski ("Kinsey"), Rainn Wilson ("Six Feet Under"), and B.J. Novak ("Punk'd") star as the employees who tolerate Michael's inappropriate behavior only because he signs their paychecks.

"The Office" is executive-produced by Ben Silverman, Greg Daniels, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Howard Klein.

The complete first season of "The Office," which celebrates the off-the-wall comedy series about life in the cubicle lane and includes uproarious deleted scenes and outtakes, will also be released on DVD for the first time August 16, 2005
