Deanna Johnston Is the Ninth Performer Eliminated from the Competition on "Rock Star: Inxs"

[via press release from CBS]

DEANNA JOHNSTON IS THE NINTH PERFORMER ELIMINATED FROM THE COMPETITION ON "ROCK STAR: INXS"

Six Contestants Remain In the Competition To Become The Lead Singer of the Band INXS

After falling into the bottom three in viewer votes and after a collective decision by the band, INXS, Deanna Johnston from Reseda, Calif. (originally from Kingston, Ontario, Canada) was eliminated last night from the competition to become the new lead singer of INXS on ROCK STAR: INXS.

The six remaining performers will continue in the competition vying to become the new lead singer of INXS. ROCK STAR: INXS is broadcast on Tuesdays (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) and will have a special one-hour episode this Wednesday, Aug. 31 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. In addition, ROCK STAR: INXS will be broadcast Sundays (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on VH1. Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke are the hosts.

On Wednesday's special one-hour show, Suzie O'Neil was selected by the band to do an encore performance of The Rolling Stones' "Start Me Up," which she originally performed Tuesday night. It was then revealed that Deanna Johnston, Marty Casey and Ty Taylor made up the three performers with the fewest viewer votes. The three singers were then asked to perform an INXS song in front of a studio audience in a fight to stay in the competition. Marty sang "Don't Change," Ty sang "What You Need" and Deanna sang "Elegantly Wasted."

Deanna learned her fate from Tim Farriss, a member of the band, who said that "she just wasn't right for their band, INXS." She becomes the ninth singer eliminated from the competition, following Dana Robbins, Wil Seabrook, Neal Carlson, Heather Luttrell, Daphna Dove, Tara Slone, Brandon Calhoon and Jessica Robinson.
