NBC Drops Friday's 'Inconceivable,' Assures Return Next Week
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Hoping to ignite some sort of spark on the evening, NBC has dropped Friday's installment of "Inconceivable" in favor of a repeat of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

The freshman drama will then resume its run the following week on October 14.

NBC's decision to drop the broadcast came within hours of its announcement that it would expand that night's episode of "Three Wishes" to two hours, pre-empting its usual lead-in "Dateline NBC" (read the story).

To review, here's a breakdown of NBC's Friday schedule for the next three weeks:

Friday, October 7
8:00/7:00c - "Three Wishes: Brookings, South Dakota" (two-hour episode, special time)
10:00/9:00c - "Law & Order: Criminal Intent - Diamond Dogs" (repeat)*

Friday, October 14
8:00/7:00c - "Dateline NBC"
9:00/8:00c - "Three Wishes: Le Mars, Iowa"
10:00/9:00c - "Inconceivable: To Surrogate, With Love"

Friday, October 21
8:00/7:00c - "Dateline NBC"
9:00/8:00c - "Three Wishes: Cedar City, Utah"
10:00/9:00c - "Inconceivable: Balls In Your Court"

"Inconceivable's" most recent episode drew just 4.55 million viewers, a 27.43% drop from its premiere (6.27 million).

Touchstone Television and Tollin/Robbins Productions are behind the series, with Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins, Joe Davola, Oliver Goldstick and Marco Pennette serving as the executive producers.

* a scheduling update issued on Wednesday noted a repeat of "Diamond Dogs" would air instead of "Grow"
