Reality Comedy Series KENNY VS. SPENNY Returns for Its Second Season January 14 on GSN
Longtime Friends Compete for Supremacy in Outrageous Challenges
PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 13 /-- GSN, the network for games, will
premiere the second season of KENNY VS SPENNY on Saturday, January 14 with an
episode in which stars Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice compete to see who can kiss
more women. The announcement was made today by Rich Cronin, President and
Chief Executive Officer, GSN, as part of the network's Television Critics
Association presentation.
KENNY VS. SPENNY focuses on the sibling-like rivalry between these two
longtime friends who first garnered attention for their feature film "Pitch,"
a favorite at the Toronto International Film Festival. A contemporary
real-life odd couple, Spenny is a neurotic "stress case" who believes in
winning by playing fair, hard work and preparation. Kenny, on the other hand,
is charismatic and a self-proclaimed 'devious genius' who likes to bend the
rules in order to win a challenge. These fundamental differences fuel the
competition and provide some very twisted comedy.
Each weekly episode brings a new outrageous competition to life. The
challenges are no laughing matter to Kenny or Spenny, however, as the result
is glory and gloating for the winner and a specially selected humiliation for
the loser. The competitions are varied and range from endurance contests to
the more sublime mental challenges. The humiliation for the loser comes in
the form of an odious task chosen by the winner.
The new season will feature such competitions as "Who Can be the Best
Journalist?" "Who Do Old People Like More?" "Who is Braver?" "First One to
Talk Loses" and "First One to be Mean Loses." With the competition as intense
as ever, the boys' antics continue to escalate and Kenny kidnaps Spenny's
mother in an episode and Spenny reacts by holding Kenny's collector recordings
hostage.
The most talked about show in Canada amongst the media and its cult
following, KENNY VS. SPENNY is one of the highest-rated Canadian-produced
reality programs. Known by many as "North Park" and following in the
footsteps of "SCTV" and "Kids in the Hall," KENNY VS. SPENNY is not only one
of the most popular shows in Canada, but has an online cult following of
international proportions.
Created and executive produced by Hotz and Rice, KENNY VS. SPENNY is
produced by John Morayniss, Noreen Halpern, Ira Levy, Peter Williamson and
Abby Finer. Hotz and Rice also serve as producers and directors; Hotz was
recently hand-picked by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, fans of KENNY VS. SPENNY,
to write/consult on the Emmy Award-winning ninth season of "South Park."
