Star-Studded Ceremony Airs Thursday, June 8th AT 9PM ET/PT

Joel Gallen of Tenth Planet Productions Returns As Executive Producer & Director

Santa Monica, CA (March 8, 2006) � MTV: Music Television announced today it will hold the 2006 MTV MOVIE AWARDS on Saturday, June 3rd at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA. The fifteenth annual show will premiere on-air on Thursday, June 8th at 9pm ET/PT. With the infamous golden popcorn up for grabs in such eccentric categories as �Best Kiss,� �Best Villain,� and �Best Comedic Performance,� along with the debut of several new awards, the 2006 MTV MOVIE AWARDS promises to be as memorable as ever featuring Hollywood�s hottest celebrities, standout musical performances, and more.

Tenth Planet Productions will once again join MTV to produce the 2006 MTV MOVIE AWARDS. Joel Gallen will executive produce the show for the 12th consecutive year, and also serve as Director. Salli Frattini is Executive Producer for MTV. Rick Austin is Producer and Kathy Flynn will serve as Event Producer.

Nominees for the 2006 MTV MOVIE AWARDS will be announced later this spring. The nominees are chosen through a national poll of MTV and MTV2 viewers.

Hosted by incomparable Jimmy Fallon, the 2005 MTV Movie Awards attracted some of the biggest names in Hollywood to honor the year�s best movies. Napoleon Dynamite and Mean Girls were the big winners, each taking home three golden popcorn statuettes. Lindsay Lohan nabbed �Best Female Performance� for an earnest teen adapting to the social perils of a new school in the hit comedy Mean Girls, and Leonardo DiCaprio scored the win for �Best Male Performance� for his role as eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes in the biopic The Aviator. With typical MTV fanfare, the biggest names in Hollywood turned out for the show including performances by Eminem, Foo Fighters, and Mariah Carey, as well as appearances by Tom Cruise, Hilary Swank, Nicole Kidman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Connelly, Johnny Knoxville, Katie Holmes, Hilary Duff, Sandra Bullock, Jessica Simpson, and The Rock among others.
