GSN's Documentary Series 'ANYTHING TO WIN' Features the Fiercely Competitive World of the Daytime Soap Operas

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 10 -- On Sunday, April 16, GSN, the network for games presents ANYTHING TO WIN: SOAP OPERAS WARS. The signature documentary series, which looks at some of the most interesting competitions of all time, airs weekly on Sundays from 8:00 - 9:00 PM, EST.

Soap operas are legendary for going to extremes and creating the most outlandish storylines with their characters, doing anything from afflicting them with amnesia to bringing them back from the dead. This is never more evident than during "Sweeps" when, in an effort to boost ratings, soap producers pull out all the stops. ANYTHING TO WIN gives viewers a glimpse into this competitive world, focusing specifically on a ground breaking stunt orchestrated by the producers and writers of "Days of Our Lives" where they unleashed a serial killer on to the town of Salem and, when it was all over, half of the beloved cast was dead.

"Soap operas are misunderstood and underappreciated. As any actor who has joined a soap after doing prime time or films will tell you, there isn't a more demanding job in the business. Daytime is filled with talented performers whose fans are fiercely loyal, and storylines that are complicated and compelling. It's no wonder so many prime time shows draw talent and plots from the genre," said Stephanie Sloane, Editor of Soap Opera Digest.

ANYTHING TO WIN is produced by Creative Differences and Asylum Entertainment. Erik Nelson, Dave Harding and Frank Sinton serve as executive producers. Nelson and Harding, the team behind BIG BUCKS: THE PRESS YOUR LUCK SCANDAL, GSN's first and highly successful documentary special, have produced more than 400 hours of programming for 12 different networks. Recently, Nelson also produced his first theatrical documentary: Werner Herzog's critically acclaimed "Grizzly Man." Asylum Entertainment, founded in 2000, created the 10-time Emmy nominated series "Beyond the Glory" and the Emmy nominated series "Fearless."

GSN, the Network for Games, is the only U.S. television network dedicated to game-related programming and interactive game playing. The network features game shows, reality series, documentaries and casino games. As the industry leader in interactivity, GSN features over 133 hours per week of interactive programming, which allows viewers a chance to win prizes by playing along with GSN's televised games via GSN.com. Reaching nearly 60 million Nielsen homes, GSN is distributed in the U.S. through all major cable systems and satellite providers. The network is jointly owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Liberty Media Corporation. For further media information, visit GSN's press website at corp.gsn.com.
