JAMES GARNER RETURNS AS A LAID-BACK MALIBU MYSTERY SOLVER IN THE EMMY AWARD-WINNING CLASSIC TV SERIES "THE ROCKFORD FILES: SEASON TWO"

Six-Disc Set with all 22 Fast-Paced and Funny Episodes, Plus the Original Pilot, Comes to DVD June 13, 2006 Just in Time For Father's Day from Universal Studios Home Entertainment

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- June 9, 2006 -- James Garner returns in his Emmy Award-winning role as Jim Rockford, the reluctant private eye in a Malibu mobile home, when The Rockford Files: Season Two returns on DVD on June 13, 2006 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Created by television legend Steven J. Cannell ("Hunter," "The A-Team") and Roy Huggins ("Baretta," "The Fugitive"), The Rockford Files is one of the most enduring and popular detective series of all time. Jim Rockford (James Garner), an ex-con convicted of a crime he didn't commit, is now a private investigator specializing in cold cases and lost causes. Rockford is an irritable "Everyman," fielding clients that have a tendency to run out on him, the "helpful" suggestions of his retired trucker dad, Rocky (Noah Beery, Jr.) and the extralegal shenanigans of Angel, his not-to-be-trusted former cellmate (Stuart Margolin in an Emmy-winning role). Quicker with a quip than his fists, his willingness to circumvent the law puts him at odds with Sergeant Dennis Becker (Joe Santos), his occasionally sympathetic ear at Police Headquarters. The Rockford Files ran for six seasons, winning five Emmy Awards, including Best Dramatic Series and a Best Actor prize for Garner. This milestone six-disc set contains all 22 episodes from Season Two of the long-running drama, plus the original series pilot, featuring "Bionic Woman" Lindsay Wagner.

An undisputed highlight of the golden age of small screen sleuthing, The Rockford Files: Season Two includes stellar guest appearances by Rob Reiner, Louis Gossett Jr., Linda Evans, Stephanie Powers, Joan Van Ark, Charles Napier, Isaac Hayes, Blair Brown and Dick Butkus. More wisecracking smart guy than gun-toting tough guy, Jim Rockford's laidback wit put him on Bravo's Top 100 TV Characters of All Time, and makes this collection a must-have Father's Day gift for every Rockford Files fan. The Rockford Files: Season Two DVD set is priced at $39.98 SRP. Preorder close is May 9, 2006.

SYNOPSIS
The world's most unlikely detective returns to DVD for the first time ever in all 22 thrilling Season Two episodes of The Rockford Files. Emmy winner James Garner reprises his role as Jim Rockford, an ex-con-turned-private-investigator who would rather fish than fight, but whose instinct on closed cases is more golden than his classic Pontiac Firebird. From his mobile home in Malibu, this wisecracking private eye takes on the cases of the lost and the dispossessed, chasing down seemingly long-dead clues in the sun-baked streets and seamy alleys of Los Angeles. This phenomenal DVD set includes such stellar guest stars as Rob Reiner, Louis Gossett Jr, Linda Evans, Stephanie Powers, Joan Van Ark, Charles Napier, Isaac Hayes, Blair Brown, and Dick Butkus. The Rockford Files are now re-opened and declassified for mystery fans everywhere!
