The Mystery of ABC Family's Highest Rated Drama "Kyle XY" is Extended with a Second Season Pickup

Burbank, CA (August 4, 2006) � ABC Family has picked up the hit original scripted series Kyle XY for a second season, with an order of 13 one-hour original episodes, it was announced today by Paul Lee, President, ABC Family. KYLE XY, produced by Touchstone Television, was a breakout summer hit for ABC Family garnering the best ratings for an original series in the channel�s history. The ensemble cast includes newcomer Matt Dallas (�Entourage�), Marguerite McIntyre (�The Days�), Bruce Thomas (�Legally Blonde�), April Matson (�Quintuplets�) and Jean-Luc Bilodeau (�Ill Fated�), Chris Olivero (�24�), Kirsten Prout (�Elektra�) and Nicholas Lea (�X-Files�).

KYLE XY rates as ABC Family�s most-watched original series in the history of the network in Total Viewers (2.08 million), Adults 18-34 (336,000) and Adults 18-49 (793,000). Even last Monday�s episode, on July 31st, was the second most-watched on record and drew the series� second best numbers yet on ABC Family in Total Viewers (2.41 million), Adults 18-34 (368,00) and Adults 18-49 (942,000), ranking among basic cable�s Top 5 in the hour competitively. The series was also available for download on iTunes including a free preview the week prior to premiere, streaming on the ABC Family broadband player and the series was repurposed on ABC throughout the first season.

KYLE XY is an incredible mystery about a teenager with no past. The series follows the story of Kyle (Matt Dallas), a mysterious teenage savant who is missing instinctive human behavior such as anger, joy and love, and the family who found him. After being found wandering in traffic and put in an institution, he meets psychologist Nicole Trager (MacIntyre), who brings him home, much to the chagrin of her two children Lori (Matson) and Josh (Bilodeau). Even her husband Stephen (Thomas) is a bit wary of his wife�s latest patient. As Kyle begins to show signs of brilliance, solving the mystery of his origin and potential abilities becomes the family�s mission.
