UNIVERSAL HD SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

SEPTEMBER IS 'SPORTY' ON UNIVERSAL HD

BURBANK, Calif. August 4, 2006 Universal HD's two weeks of live coverage of the 2006 U.S. Tennis Open begins on Monday, August 28th and concludes on Saturday, September 10th. Primetime matches will be repeated the next day at 7:00am (ET), all in crystal-clear high definition.

"We hope UniHD can duplicate the excitement of last September for viewers this year. Last year, UniHD was the only HD cable network to show the Agase-Blake match from the U.S. Open and the only cable network to show the USC-Notre NCAA Football game," said Dan Harrison, senior vice president emerging networks, NBC Universal cable entertainment. "We are thrilled to be one of the networks that brings both of these great events to viewers."

Notre Dame kicks off on Universal HD! Viewers will be able to catch encores of Notre Dame's games on Sunday mornings beginning Sunday, September 10th at 9:30am (ET) with Notre Dame v Penn State. The following Sunday will feature Notre Dame v Michigan. These featured encores will continue through November.

The Ryder Cup, one of the last great golfing events founded on prestige rather than prize money, originated in 1927 and will be played for the 36th time in September 2006. Join Universal HD on Thursday, September 21st and Friday, September 22nd as the U.S. team faces the European competition at The K Club in Kildare, Ireland.

It's Extreme Fridays on Universal HD this September. Beginning 12:00am (ET) on September 9th, and continuing every Friday night, Universal HD will bring viewers the best in extreme sports from around the world, featuring The 2006 Jeep World of Adventure Sports HD and The 2006 Dew Action Sports Tour.

Audiences will be treated to the 2006 Dew Action Sports Tour live on Friday, September 8th and Saturday, September 9th at 12:00am (ET). This installment is the The Toyota Challenge, the fourth stop on the '06 tour.

Firefly lands at Universal HD! It will premiere on September 24th at 6:00pm (ET) with the two hour pilot "Serenity." The series will then air regularly on Sunday nights at 7:00pm and 12:00am (ET). Firefly is set five hundred years from today in a new planetary system after humanity abandons "Earth That Was." Under the leadership of Malcolm Reynolds, a renegade who fought against the new unified central government (the "Alliance"), the crew of the Firefly-class vessel Serenity struggles to survive any way they can. They fly between the border planets to keep away from the Alliance and below its radar. This series was described as a "science fiction western" but is different from other science fiction series, as it features no aliens.
