Fans Name New SCI FI Channel Original Movie

NEW YORK, NY-August 14, 2006-With the directive to title a move that "stars" a menacing giant squid, movie fans logged onto SCIFI.COM during the month of July to submit their best ideas for a juicy movie moniker. As a result, the aptly titled Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep was born. Starring Victoria Pratt, Charlie O'Connell and Jack Scalia, 'Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep' will premiere Saturday, September 23 @ 9pm ET/PT only on SCI FI.

SCIFI.COM received thousands of entries in their open call for a winning movie title. Other contenders considered include: 'Two Guys A Girl and a Giant Squid;' 'Tentacles Eight: Humans Two;' 'The Squid Stays in the Picture;' 'Stop or My Squid Will Shoot' and 'Killamari.'

A marine archeologist and sailor's search for a coveted artifact soon turns into an action-packed adventure in ;Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep.' The team must figure out how to survive when faced with a terrifying giant squid that seems to be protecting the very relic they so desperately desire.

SCI FI's Saturday movie franchise is the Channel's homage to the classic popcorn feature, a re-imagination of cinema's most delectable sci-fi treats. Like the timeless fare that packed movie theaters and drive-ins, SCI FI's non-stop Saturday thrill rides offer thoroughly modern escapist fun, running the gamut from traditional creature features to horror flicks and sleek, contemporary thrillers.
