PASADENA, CA, January 11, 2007 -- Step into the incredible world of Sarah Silverman as she goes about her life, which on any given day, can include taking in a homeless man, exploring her sexuality or encouraging a young girl to enter a pageant to fulfill her Sarah's childhood dreams. COMEDY CENTRAL's "The Sarah Silverman Program" premieres Thursday, February 1 at 10:30 p.m.

The Sarah Silverman Program" stars Silverman who plays a character (aptly named Sarah Silverman) whose absurd daily life is told through an array of scripted scenes and song. In each episode, Sarah manages to fall into unique, sometimes unsettling and always hilarious predicaments, with her sister (played by real-life sister Laura Silverman), her geeky gay neighbors, Brian and Steve (Brian Posehn and Steve Agee) and Officer Jay (Jay Johnston) never far from her side.

In the premiere episode, "Officer Jay," Sarah ends up in trouble with the law after drinking (cough syrup) and driving. While free from jail after Laura and the arresting officer strike up an attraction, Sarah is not free of the jealousy that takes over as she fears she's losing her sister to love. Back at the apartment building Brian tries, unsuccessfully, to convince his partner Steve that he's actually bi-sexual.

Sarah Silverman made an impressive splash when the feature length film version of her stage show, "Jesus is Magic," was met with critical acclaim upon its release in 2005. Silverman most recently appeared in the film, "School for Scoundrels," opposite Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Heder for the Weinstein Brothers and garnered rave reviews in the documentary feature "The Aristocrats," in which she co-starred along with 100 of the industry's most prominent comedians. She also starred opposite Jack Black, Mike White and Joan Cusack in Paramount Picture's "The School of Rock," among others.

Laura Silverman is best known for her role in HBO's series, "The Comeback" and currently co-stars in the long-running CBS series, "The King of Queens." She also appeared in her sister's film, "Jesus is Magic." Brian Posehn is best know for his role in "Just Shoot Me" as well as appearances in "Seinfeld," "Newsradio," and "Everybody Loves Raymond." Steve Agee also appeared in "Jesus is Magic" as well as Bobcat Goldthwait's film, "Sleeping Dogs Lie." Jay Johnston can be seen in the film "Anchorman" and appeared in the HBO television series, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and the FOX television series, "Malcolm in the Middle."

On comedycentral.com, "The Sarah Silverman Program" Web site will launch an exclusive video clip with every new episode that Silverman and the cast put together for the digital audience, which includes full versions of songs, Sarah interviewing the cast and exclusive show outtakes. Users can also get sneak preview videos of upcoming episodes, highlight clips, photo galleries, episode guides and a message board for fans to connect. Video clips from the show will be available on mobile phones and full episodes will be available for download-to-own on iTunes.

The series is based on an idea by Silverman, Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab ("Monster House," "Heat, Vision and Jack"). Silverman, Schrab, Heidi Herzon ("Jesus is Magic") and Dan Sterling ("The Daily Show") are the executive producers. Schrab also served as director of the pilot and several of the episodes. Gary Mann is the executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.
