NBC News Weekend Roundtable Renewed on Top Station Groups Including NBC, Gannett, Hearst-Argyle, Belo, Cox, Scripps, Post-Newsweek & Media General

Show's Website (TheChrisMatthewsShow.com) Relaunching This Month with Numerous New Features and Daily Political Updates

WASHINGTON, D.C. March 19, 2007 NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution has renewed popular weekend political roundtable "The Chris Matthews Show" in more than 95% of the U.S. for the 2007-2008 season, it was announced today by Barry Wallach, President NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.

"The Chris Matthews Show," which is produced by NBC News and distributed in national syndication by NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution, has been renewed for a sixth season on stations from many top broadcast groups, including NBC Universal, Hearst-Argyle, Gannett, Post-Newsweek, Belo, Scripps, Clear Channel, Media General and more. And the show's website, TheChrisMatthewsShow.com, is re-launching later this month with a new design, numerous new features and daily political updates.

"'The Chris Matthews Show' is truly a Sunday morning franchise and both local stations and advertisers have recognized that," says Wallach. "Chris and the team are enjoying a tremendous season thus far, consistently beating rival Sunday morning political programs, trailing only 'Meet The Press' and the show is poised for a strong 2007-2008 season with the Presidential elections just around the corner."

Top markets renewed include WNBC-TV New York, KNBC-TV Los Angeles, WMAQ-TV Chicago, WCAU-TV Philadelphia, WRC-TV Washington D.C., WCVB-TV Boston, WKYC-TV Cleveland and WCMH-TV Columbus.

"The Chris Matthews Show" consistently beats rival Sunday morning political programs, trailing only NBC News' genre leader "Meet The Press" on a weekly basis. In the recently completed February sweeps, "The Chris Matthews Show" averaged a 2.1 HH rating, according to Nielsen Media Research data, up an impressive 24% percent vs. last February. And against the Sunday morning network competition in the sweep, 'Matthews' had the most growth in both HH's (up 24%) and total viewers (up 29%) and was also the only show with any gains in adults 18-49 (up 17%).

Starting later this month, viewers will be able to enjoy a totally re-vamped website at TheChrisMatthewsShow.com. The site is sure to become a daily destination for viewers with daily updated political news and interactive polling. The site will also feature information on the show's panelists, transcripts and much more.

"The Chris Matthews Show" is a half-hour journalists' roundtable program. Nancy Nathan is Executive Producer.
