LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX has sealed the fate of its new dramedy "The Wedding Bells" as production on the series has been halted after seven episodes.
The show's most-recent airing mustered a fourth-place 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 (according to preliminary Nielsen data), putting it behind the CW's "WWE Smackdown" (1.7 rating) in the Friday, 9:00/8:00c hour and short of its lead-in, a repeat of "House" (1.9 rating) at 8:00/7:00c.
At press time, episodes are still set to run on April 6 ("The Most Beautiful Girl") and April 20 ("The Mother") leaving one episode ("Fools in Love") on the shelf. The latter installment is actually the show's fifth produced and was "skipped" in favor of the former episodes.
It's not clear what FOX plans to air on Fridays during the May sweeps period.
