SCI FI CHANNEL UNVEILS ITS BIGGEST SUMMER YET WITH NEW ORIGINAL SERIES AND RETURNING HITS

Lineup Includes New Series Flash Gordon, Destination Truth and Renowned Mentalist Derren Brown and the Return of Eureka, Who Wants to be a Superhero?, Ghost Hunters, and Dr. Who

Pasadena, CA April 27, 2007 SCI FI Channel is about to launch its biggest summer yet with a lineup featuring all-new originals and the return some of last year's most popular shows. Summer introduces viewers to a contemporary re-imagined take on Flash Gordon, the investigative adventure reality series Destination Truth and the mind-twisting British mentalist Derren Brown, plus the return of last year's record-breaking hit dramedy Eureka, an even bigger season of the competition series Who Wants to be A Superhero? with Stan Lee, all-new investigations with the Ghost Hunters, and season 3 of Dr. Who

New Series Premieres

Destination Truth (New Series - Premieres June 6, 2007 @ 10 PM) - Destination Truth (6 one-hour episodes) is a weekly adventure series that invites viewers along on one man's search for the truth while investigating stories of the unexplained across the globe. Josh Gates, a world adventurer and eager truth-seeker, and his small crew of production buddies visits a different destination around the world that is home to notorious, supernatural and mysterious stories, such as the Malaysian Bigfoot and the Chilean Chupacabra as well as some lesser-known phenomena like the dinosaur-like creatures reported in the skies over Papua, New Guinea, a haunted village in Thailand, and the "wolfman" of Argentina. Josh searches for evidence to either prove or debunk these stories by talking to witnesses and experts and immersing himself in the local culture. The series is executive produced by Neil and Michael Mandt.

Derren Brown Project (Title TBD; New Series - Premieres July 25, 2007 @ 10 PM) - This July, SCI FI Channel will introduce America to mentalist Derren Brown, the British sensation described as "part James Bond, part Yoda." With numerous top-rated series and specials to his credit, Derren has astounded UK television audiences causing them to conclude that he knows your mind better than you do. SCI FI's original U.S. produced version of the Derren Brown Project (official title TBD) will consist of 6 jaw-dropping 1-hour episodes that must be seen to be believed. Andrew O'Conner and Michael Vine will serve as executive producers for Objective Productions.

The British press has called him "mind-blowing," "fascinating" and "a warlock." He doesn't claim to be a mind reader, though he can seemingly predict and control human behavior. He describes his craft as a mixture of suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship. Whatever you choose to call it, his unparalleled gift is a powerful and provocative form of entertainment.

Flash Gordon (New Series - Premieres August 10, 2007) Placing a 21st century spin on a science fiction classic, SCI FI's contemporized version of Flash Gordon follows the all-new adventures of Flash (Eric Johnson) and his companions, Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov. Ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances, they find themselves as Earth's last line of defense against the forces of the merciless dictator Ming. Produced by Reunion Pictures, this modern day retelling of the classic comic strip franchise will begin production in May. RHI Entertainment will be distributing the series internationally. Under an agreement with property owner King Features Syndicate, the new series is being produced by Matthew O'Connor and Tom Rowe. RHI's Robert Halmi, Sr. and Robert Halmi, Jr. (Tin Man, Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven, The Ten Commandments), who previously produced SCI FI's popular miniseries event Legend of Earthsea, will serve as Executive Producers on the series.

Returning Series Premieres

Ghost Hunters (New Episodes Premiere June 6, 2007 @ 9 PM) - In October 2004, SCI FI introduced Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson--plumbers by day, Ghost Hunters by night! These self-proclaimed skeptics have managed to expose some of the most frighteningly compelling evidence of paranormal phenomenon ever seen on television. Being scared has never been so much fun! Enjoying record-high ratings throughout its series run, Ghost Hunters returns to SCI FI with all-new episodes on June 6th.

Doctor Who (season 3 premieres July 6, 2007 @ 9 PM) Back by popular demand, Doctor Who returns to SCI FI Channel. In the show's third original season, David Tennant reprises his role as the mysterious, time-traveling Doctor. American audiences will meet the Doctor's brand-new sidekick, Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), in the first official episode of the season, "Smith and Jones." Season three will kick off on SCI FI with the 90-minute Doctor Who Christmas Special: The Runaway Bride, guest-starring award-winning comedy actress Catherine Tate. Doctor Who is produced by Phil Collinson. Executive Producers are Head of Drama, BBC Wales, Julie Gardner and Lead Writer Russell T Davies.

Eureka (Season 2 Premieres July 10, 2007) Strap yourself in for a return trip to Eureka. It may be the same small town but in its second season the secrets are even bigger. The series about a secret U.S. town full of geniuses, broke Channel records with its two-hour premiere last summer becoming the highest rated series telecast in SCI FI Channel history. In line with SCI FI's mission to broaden the scope and appeal of the Channel, Eureka is an immensely relatable, earth-based dramedy with a unique sci-fi twist. Nestled in the Pacific Northwest, the town of Eureka is shrouded in secrecy. The picturesque hamlet is actually a community of geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research. What they've unwittingly created is a place where anything imaginable can happen and does. Eureka stars Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, Ed Quinn and Jordan Hinson.

Who Wants to be a Superhero? (Season 2 Premieres July 25, 2007 @ 9 PM) - Expect more thrills, bigger challenges and even more episodes this season as once again SCI FI Channel partners with legendary comic book creator Stan Lee's (Spider-Man, Hulk, The Fantastic Four, X-Men) POW! Entertainment, Inc., and Bruce Nash's Nash Entertainment (Meet My Folks, For Love or Money, Who Wants to Marry My Dad?) to find the next great American superhero. Andy Scheer (Hell's Kitchen) joins as executive producer this season.

SCI FI Channel is a television network where "what if" is what's on. SCI FI fuels the imagination of viewers with original series and events, blockbuster movies and classic science fiction and fantasy programming, as well as a dynamic Web site (www.scifi.com ) and magazine. Launched in 1992, and currently in 89 million homes, SCI FI Channel is a network of NBC Universal, one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies.
