AMC Launches New Primetime Movie Franchise 'AMC Gold'

Joins AMC Hollywood Icon, AMC Celebrates and AMC Complete Collection, Connecting Classic Movies to Key Demos

Network Continues to Leverage Vast Film Library to Build Unique Viewing Environment that Showcases and Defines Essential Movies

New York, NY - April 30, 2007 - AMC announced today that it is broadening its movie franchise strategy with the development of AMC Gold. This year, AMC created a series of successful programming franchises, including AMC Hollywood Icon, AMC Celebrates and AMC Complete Collection, designed to dramatically enhance its primetime line up as well as the viewing experience of its audience. These established franchises honor iconic movies and cinematic genres by showcasing specific titles, stars and anniversaries throughout the year. Now, each month beginning in October, AMC Gold will highlight an epic film that the network believes is essential movie-viewing. By contextualizing its movie broadcasts, the network will continue to fully leverage the value of its vast catalog, provide a viewing atmosphere and destination unique to basic cable, drive appointment television viewing for its movies, and creatively connect iconic titles to various key demographics.

Today's announcement builds on a series of one-off programming events that AMC has developed in 2007. The environment created has proved to be a valuable platform for AMC's movie library, helping the network reach record ratings in key demographics throughout January, February and March, as well as its strongest 1Q in network history.

"AMC is the curator of the highest quality movies on basic cable and AMC Gold, along with the other primetime franchises, signifies the network's approach to showcase our library more strategically and to build an infrastructure that will continue to deliver iconic movies to our audience in an engaging way," stated AMC General Manager and Executive Vice President Charlie Collier. "These programming events are clearly yielding results for the network and we look forward to extending the success with AMC Gold as we continue to build a unique viewing experience that caters to the demands of our targeted viewers."

Premiering with multiple-Oscar winning film Sergeant York in October, AMC Gold salutes films that laid the groundwork for the best known movies of today. AMC Gold will highlight additional iconic films including: eight-time Oscar winner On the Waterfront, and eight-time Oscar winner -and network premiere of- From Here to Eternity. Plus, Harrison Ford leads a month of AMC Gold in two-time Oscar winner Witness, Tom Hanks can be seen in two-time Oscar winner Apollo 13, and Clint Eastwood brings viewers the gift of the classic Western in The Good the Bad and the Ugly. Each movie will be uniquely packaged with exclusive content to further enhance the viewing experience and further reinforce that AMC is building the future of classic.
