Lifetime Television Memorial Day Weekend Features Cavalcade of Movies and Miniseries Along With On-Air Salute to Armed Forces

- 'Army Wives' Premieres Sunday, June 3, at 10PM (ET/PT) -

NEW YORK, May 16 -- Lifetime Television's Memorial Day weekend features a cavalcade of movies and miniseries along with a special salute to the men and women in the Armed Forces, leading up to the premiere of the network's drama series "Army Wives" -- the first of three new Lifetime dramas debuting this summer -- on Sunday, June 3, at 10PM (ET/PT).

Airing both Saturday, May 26, and Sunday, May 27, from 11AM-11PM (ET/PT), the "Beach Reads" movie festival stars Brooke Shields, Lindsay Frost, Annabeth Gish, Lacey Chabert, Annette O'Toole, Gena Rowlands, Tom Berenger and Ken Olin, in stories from writers including Arthur Hailey, Philip Margolin, Ann Rule and John Edward.

Catherine Bell, Kim Delaney and the rest of the cast of "Army Wives" recently broke from filming in Charleston, South Carolina to meet nearly two dozen military families involved with Operation Homefront for an all-day picnic and event where Lifetime created and distributed care packages for their deployed loved ones. Operation Homefront is a national non-profit organization which provides emergency support and morale to U.S. military troops and their families and also operates CinCHouse.com, the largest online community of military wives and women in uniform.

A 10 minute film of the "Wives on the Homefront" event, featuring footage, family biographies and interviews with the cast of "Army Wives," will air exclusively on LifetimeTV.com beginning on June 3, with shorter segments on Lifetime throughout the Memorial Day weekend.

From The Mark Gordon Company and ABC Television Studio, "Army Wives" is about the struggles, dreams and friendships of a diverse group of women -- and one man -- living with their spouses and families on an active army post and the pressures and traditions of the military on those who are left behind while their partners serve their country. In addition to Delaney ("NYPD Blue") and Bell ("JAG"), the series stars Sally Pressman ("Shark"), Brigid Brannagh ("Over There"), Brian McNamara ("The O.C."), Sterling K. Brown ("Starved"), Wendy Davis ("Commander in Chief"), and Drew Fuller ("Charmed").
