AMC Launches Customized Multi-Platform Content Celebrating Advertising Legends to Promote Mad Men

Legends Featured On-Air and Online Include

Jerry Della Femina, Bob Jeffrey, and Martin Puris

August 08, 2007 - New York, New York - In support of AMC's critically acclaimed original drama Mad Men, the network announced today a multiplatform campaign to promote the series while celebrating legendary advertising veterans from the 1960's. AMC will create customized vignettes that are thematically in line with the series, capturing the cinematic quality of the show and the essence of the era. The beautifully produced spots will feature ad industry veterans including Jerry Della Femina, Bob Jeffrey, and Martin Puris and others, sharing their personal stories from that time. Mad Men, which is created and executive produced by Matt Weiner (Sopranos), is set in 1960 New York and chronicles the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of advertising industry.

"AMC's Ad Legends campaign is a tribute to the iconic industry veterans that shaped the world of advertising," stated Rob Sorcher, executive vice president of programming, packaging and production for AMC. "We had a unique opportunity with Mad Men to expand the scope of our campaign and step beyond traditional marketing techniques while also supporting the network's strategy of creating high quality original content for our air and online. It is an honor for us to work with these icons and showcase their stories."

AMC will create over 14 beautifully produced 30 second vignettes that will run exclusively on AMC and AMC online (www.amc.tv). The campaign will launch on August 9th and continue throughout the airing of the series. Each spot will showcase the personal story from one of the legends, beginning with Jerry Della Femina. Femina, who started in the ad industry in 1961, was honored as the Czar of Madison Avenue by Smirnoff Vodka, and has been cited as A Creative Leader Since 1980 by The Wall Street Journal.

Other featured ad legends include: George Lois, who gained fame and major awards with his bold work between 1958 and 1978, including ads for Wolfschmidt Vodka, Xerox, and MTV. He also became the youngest inductee into the Art Directors Hall of Fame. Martin Puris has over thirty years of experience building some of the world's most esteemed brands, including BMW, Club Med, and UPS and Joy Golden, a copywriting veteran, has been in the ad business for over 55 years.

Mad Men was developed by the network and created by Emmy Award-winning executive producer and writer of The Sopranos Matthew Weiner. Set in 1960 New York, the one hour drama received tremendous critical acclaim heading into its premiere, chronicling the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell while their private world gets sold.
