Santa Monica, CA, October 2, 2007 MTV rocks the airwaves with the scripted drama "Kaya," beginning Monday, October 22 at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The MTV original half-hour series exposes a rock star on the brink of destruction as her world begins to crumble under the weight of success and fame. The first episode of "Kaya" plus a music video, performed by the fictional Crossing Coldwater rock band, will be available exclusively for Time Warner On Demand customers on October 15. In addition, viewers will have the opportunity to access exclusive footage and bonus materials through various MTV platforms to learn more about "Kaya," Crossing Coldwater's music and the actors who portray them.

"Kaya" follows a musically-gifted young woman who, along with her band Crossing Coldwater, becomes an overnight rock sensation. Now that her dream finally has become a reality, Kaya struggles to come to terms with her own identity as the band's relationship suffers when egos clash and hidden jealousies surface. Also, the person Kaya most trusts in the world has his own agenda that differs sharply from what Kaya wants. While Kaya navigates her way through the minefield of being a celebrity and all the pressures associated with superstardom in today's media-crazed society, she reflects on the past and the direction her life is taking now. Will the price of platinum albums, fame and lost loves cause this rock star to fall apart?

The series stars Danielle Savre ("Heroes," "Summerland") as Kaya, Cory Monteith ("Kyle XY," The Invisible) as Gunnar, Joe MacLeod (Saved, "Ghost Trackers") as Manny and Justin Wilczynski as Taylor. Rounding out the cast is Mike Dopud ("Smallville," "Traveler") as Kaya's dad and manager Don Lawson, singer/songwriter Eric Benet as music producer T Davis, Robert Moloney ("Masters of Science Fiction") as record label executive Rossi and Jessica Parker Kennedy as Kaya's best friend Natalee.

Guest actors slated to be on "Kaya" during the season include former Berlin singer Terri Nunn, who plays a singer looking to make her comeback, and Christy Carlson Romano ("The Cutting Edge 2," "Kim Possible"), who is the lead singer of a rival band and has eyes for one of the Crossing Coldwater guys.

Besides the sneak peek first episode with Time Warner On Demand, all carriers of MTV On Demand will feature sneak peek footage from the upcoming season and Crossing Coldwater's new music video "Kiss and Make Up." Plus, offered on MTV On Demand will be behind-the-scenes bonus segments with the cast and full-length episodes.

MTV.com will offer original behind-the-scenes footage with the cast on the set of "Kaya" as well as never-before-scene photos. Each week, the latest new episode will be available in its entirety online after it airs, plus a sneak peek of how the drama will continue to unfold in the next episode.

On premiere night, viewers can step into Kaya's Hollywood life for themselves with the debut of Virtual Kaya at www.kaya.mtv.com, the latest virtual world from MTV Networks. Fans will be able to party, virtually, in a replica of Kaya's rockin' house and check out The Recording Studio, among other locations featured in the series. Throughout the season, the cast of "Kaya" will be coming in-world to hang out with the fans.

The premiere episode of "Kaya" will be available for download to own on iTunes Store (www.iTunes.com), Amazon Unbox (http://unbox.amazon.com), Walmart Video Downloads and Bit Torrent beginning October 15. Viewers will have the opportunity to download each new episode the day after it airs on MTV.

Tony Krantz ("24," "Felicity"), Deborah Joy LeVine ("Dawson's Creek") and Steve Levitan ("The Saddle Club") serve as the executive producers. Consulting producer and director is Bradley Walsh ("Instant Star," "Darcy's Wild Life"). "Kaya" was created by LeVine. Chris Linn and Meghan Cole are the executives in charge of development for MTV. The executive in charge of production is Jim Woodside of Protocol. Evan Taubenfeld (lead guitarist for Avril Lavigne) serves as executive director of music and wrote or co-wrote the twelve original tracks for the series. "Kaya" is a co-venture between MTV and Protocol Entertainment. MGM is distributing the series internationally.
