WHO: Discovery Channel

WHAT: SNEAK PEEK WEEK

WHEN: Wednesday, December 26 through Monday, December 31; Sneak Peeks at 10PM ET/PT each night

This holiday season, Discovery Channel is giving viewers the gift of all-day marathons of their favorite programs, coupled with a 10 PM sneak peek of some of our new favorites from the upcoming 2008 schedule.

Wednesday, December 26

Marathon: MYTHBUSTERS (9 to 3AM ET/PT)

Sneak Peek: SMASH LAB (during 10PM hour)

Wednesday is for MYTHBUSTERS, the popular series that uses modern-day science to uncover the truth behind myths and legends. And at 10PM, Discovery Channel sneak peeks SMASH LAB, set to premiere beginning January 2008. The next generation in destruction instruction, SMASH LAB features a team of maverick engineers as they take on everyday technology and apply it in revolutionary new ways. First they break the technology down to see how it works and then use their know-how to see how it could be used in a different, super-sized way. Could bullet proof Kevlar protect an airliner from bombs? Could a car airbag be reinvented to stop a helicopter sinking after ditching at sea? SMASH LAB aims to find out.

Thursday, December 27

Marathon: DIRTY JOBS (9 to 3AM ET/PT)

Sneak Peek: SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED (during 10PM hour)

All day on Thursday, DIRTY JOBS' Mike Rowe works alongside the men and women whose work makes make civilized life possible for the rest of us the turkey farmers, bug breeders, penguin keepers, snake researchers, steam ship cleaners and more. At 10PM, SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED tells the fascinating stories of items both high-tech and mundane from plasma televisions to toilets and toothpaste. As hosts Louis A. Bloomfield, Professor of Physics at the University of Virginia, and Brian Unger, correspondent, humorist and producer, explain: every object has a story and an incredible process behind it.

Friday, December 28

Marathon: MAN VS WILD (9 to 3AM ET/PT)

Sneak Peek: FIGHT QUEST (during 10PM hour)

Adventurer Bear Grylls brings out the adventurer in all of us in this MAN VS WILD marathon. At 10PM, the new January 2008 weekly series FIGHT QUEST follows champion fighter Jimmy Smith and Iraq war vet Doug Anderson as they travel the world for the chance to hone their martial arts skills, train with the world's best fight masters, immerse themselves in each culture and ultimately face off against a local fighter.

Saturday, December 29

Marathon: STORM CHASERS, BLUE PLANET and FEARLESS PLANET (9 to 3AM ET/PT)

Sneak Peek: BONE DETECTIVES (during 10PM hour)

From the heart of "Tornado Alley" with STORM CHASERS to the depths of the world's oceans in BLUE PLANET, and on a wild trip around the world with extreme sportsman Will Gadd in FEARLESS PLANET, Saturday's marathon spans the globe. And at 10PM, new series BONE DETECTIVES, set to premiere January 2008, journeys to the farthest reaches of the earth. Each week, archaeologist Scotty Moore takes viewers on a quest driven by the belief that the secrets of the past have yet to be revealed. From the Peruvian highlands, home to the little known ancient Chachapoya, to Egypt's Lower Nile, Moore treks the globe in a wild ride where anthropology meets adventure.

Sunday, December 30

Marathon: DEADLIEST CATCH (9 to 3AM ET/PT)

Sneak Peek: DEADLIEST CATCH Season 4 clips (during 10PM hour)

For the Sunday marathon of this acclaimed viewer favorite, our cameras once again voyage to the Bering Sea to follow the brave captains and crews of crab-fishing vessels as they struggle against one of the deadliest and most lucrative jobs in the world. Starting at 10PM, Discovery will feature brief clips that will highlight this popular series' upcoming fourth season, set to premiere in the Spring of 2008.

Monday, December 31

Marathon: MYTHBUSTERS (9 to 3AM ET/PT)

Sneak Peek: WEAPON MASTERS (during 10PM hour)

More favorite episodes of MYTHBUSTERS catapult viewers into the New Year, followed by the 10PM airing of WEAPON MASTERS, a new series where technology and history collide headon. Every week, viewers will witness the power of historically world-changing weapons. Each episode investigates whether we could make a better weapon today with modern materials and techniques, or did the ancient craftsmen seemingly simple solutions make the most sense and do their designs stand the test of time?

Tuesday, January 1, 2008
