CHICAGO, IL-January 17, 2008 - NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution's nationally syndicated series "The Steve Wilkos Show" is teaming up with Wind-up Records' hit band Finger Eleven for a special web-only concert to take place Sunday, January 20th.
The concert, which will take place at an undisclosed New York City location, will air live only on the show's website, www.stevewilkos.com at 9 p.m. EST Sunday. The event will mark the final stop on Wilkos' two week, seven-market winter tour, which featured the first-season talk show host giving a helping hand to underprivileged children, families in need and veterans.
This Sunday, Wilkos will treat several hundred gifted NY-area school children to this special opportunity with Finger Eleven, whose recent single, "Paralyzer," has been a multi-format smash at the rock, pop and adult contemporary radio formats.
"This is a great opportunity for me to give back and make a difference in people's lives," said Wilkos. "I have kids of my own so having a chance to meet with these special students and congratulate them on their excellence is very personal to me. And to have them get a special concert from Finger Eleven, that's the icing on the cake."
Wind-up Records' Senior Vice-President of Publicity Steve Karas shared, "Wind-up Records is thrilled to be a part of the tour Steve has undertaken across the U.S. Whether it be Finger Eleven, Eric Durrance, Submersed, or others, each artist has welcomed the opportunity to stand side-by-side with Steve as he brightens the day of those that could use a little light. As a company, we look forward to continuing this relationship for years to come."
Over the last several weeks, Wilkos visited Milwaukee, Chicago, Hartford, Boston, Tampa and Baltimore. Wind-up Record's' Finger Eleven recently performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Live With Regis and Kelly.
Prior to his work in television, Wilkos, a native of Chicago, served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps before joining the Chicago Police Department. For almost 12 years, he kept the streets of Chicago's volatile 14th District (Shakespeare) safe.
Wilkos retired from the police force in 2001 and now devotes himself full time to his family and his new show. "The Steve Wilkos Show" is taped in front of a live studio audience at WMAQ-TV Chicago. Richard Dominick is the creator and executive producer of "The Steve Wilkos Show." It airs across the United States in over ninety-seven percent of the country, on over two hundred stations and in all of the major markets.
