BBC AMERICA ACQUIRES TWO SEASONS OF PREHISTORIC THRILLER PRIMEVAL

- Primeval (6 x 60, 7 x 60), an Impossible Pictures production for ITV, distributed by BBC Worldwide.

President of BBC Worldwide America, Garth Ancier, says of the deal, "Primeval is a perfect addition to our successful Saturday night menu of sci-fi and adventure. Torchwood and Robin Hood have done a tremendous job at the core of our schedule, building ratings and attracting younger viewers to BBC America. We think our audience will be excited by the addition of this prehistoric thriller one of the latest big hits from the UK."

Jurassic Park meets Doctor Who in this thriller where dinosaurs wreak havoc in the present day. When evolutionary zoologist Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall) discovers prehistoric creatures alive and well in the present day, the natural world is turned on its head and humanity faces a threat to its very existence. Unexplained anomalies are ripping holes in the fabric of time, allowing creatures from the very earliest stages of Earth's development to roam the modern world. Cutter and his team struggle to keep the looming disaster secret, while dealing with savage dinosaurs and other deadly foes. Cutter also has to deal with a deeply personal dilemma he discovers that his wife, missing for eight years and believed to be dead, has actually been travelling in the past. Now shes back, with possible answers to the riddle of the anomalies, but is it an answer shes willing to share?

BBC AMERICA brings audiences a new generation of award-winning television featuring news with a uniquely global perspective, provocative dramas, razor-sharp comedies and life-changing makeovers. BBC AMERICA pushes the boundaries to deliver high quality, highly addictive and eminently watchable programming to viewers who demand more. BBC AMERICA is distributed by Discovery Networks.
