ABC Cuts 'Trees'; NBC Drops 'Monk,' 'Psych'
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Fans of ABC's "Men in Trees" won't have to wait until the network's upfront presentation on May 13 to find out the show's fate as creator Jenny Bicks has already confirmed its demise.

"I am really proud of the work we did on MIT," she told TV Guide in a report published this evening. "A huge thank you to our supportive fans."

The series will still return for its final three episodes - including its series finale (complete with alternately shot ending) - on Wednesday, May 28 at 10:00/9:00c. "I wish the show had not been moved six times and put onto two long hiatuses," she added. "No show could survive that."

To date, "Trees" has averaged 6.17 million viewers, putting it ahead of only "Cashmere Mafia" (6.13 million) and "October Road" (5.34 million) among all Alphabet dramas this season.

Meanwhile, NBC has truncated its off-network runs of "Monk" and "Psych" as four-episode marathons of "The Office" will assume their Sunday slots on May 18 and May 25.

Both series failed to gain much ratings traction since joining the Peacock's lineup on April 6 - a 1.3 and 1.2 adults 18-49 rating on average respectively - as neither climbed out of fourth place in its time period.
