BOARDWALK EMPIRE (HBO) - "The Sopranos" alum Terence Winter has reupped his overall deal at the pay channel. As part of the pact, he's signed on to pen the potential drama, which revolves around the now-gambling mecca's early 20th century origins. He'll also executive produce alongside Martin Scorsese, Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. Said hour, which is still in the script stage, is based on Nelson Johnson's book, subtitled "The Birth, High Times and Corruption of Atlantic City."
MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE (TNT) - Andre Braugher ("Thief") has joined the cast of the Ray Romano-led drama pilot, which explores the bonds of male friendship through the eyes of three college buddies who are in their 40s. He's set as Owen, an overstressed husband and father who works as a car salesman at his dad's dealership. Romano and Mike Royce penned the script to the hour, which they're also executive producing alongside Rory Rosegarten and Cary Hoffman.
MY OWN WORST ENEMY (NBC) - Yara Martinez ("The Unit") has joined the cast of the upcoming drama about Henry (Christian Slater), a suburban dad whose alter ego, Edward, is a spy. She'll play Lily Spivey, who's detailed in the casting notice as: "33. She is Henry's loving, tender wife who cares deeply for Henry and has two kids with him: 4-year-old Ruthy and 12-year-old Dashell. Lily has absolutely no clue that her husband was born Edward Albright and spends half his time performing deadly missions all over the world. She is surprised (and a bit delighted) when "Henry's" demeanor in the bedroom changes, although she briefly wonders if he's having an affair." Mike O'Malley and Saffron Burrows also star in the Universal Media Studios-based hour. David Semel is directing the show's pilot from a script by creator Jason Smilovic.
VIRTUALITY (FOX) - Jimmi Simpson ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia") has joined the cast of the two-hour drama pilot, about Earth's first starship, which is equipped with advanced virtual reality modules. He'll play a mysterious man who enters the virtual-reality world with a hostile agenda. He joins the previously cast James D'Arcy in the project, which comes from Universal Media Studios and co-creators Michael Taylor and Ronald D. Moore. Peter Berg is directing.
